Grand Portage, MN
Grand Portage was a once active fur trading post on Lake Superior. Today it is a Chippewa settlement with a few summer cottages around the bay, and a U.S. National Historic Monument where the Canadian flag also flies and the Ontario government has erected a marker. The Grand Portage Band of the Chippewa operates a handsome lodge, dining room and conference center just to the south of the monument.
Artwork and handicrafts made by local residents are for sale at the lodge gift shop and at the Grand Portage Trading Post. A U.S. Customs and Border Patrol office is located here.
The Waterway Guide Team has gained extensive boating knowledge over the years, and now we are sharing all of the tips, skills and tools we’ve picked up along the way!
