I stopped here twice in December for fuel and a pumpout. Their fuel price is the lowest in the area -- $3.99/gallon for diesel when I visited -- so it was worth a side trip off the ICW.
There's a strong tidal current in the channel to the Fort Pierce inlet. Also a strong current at the marina, which could make docking tricky.
On my first visit, I got no response on multiple radio calls. I came in anyway and was fortunate to have a companion with me to handle the lines once we figured out where to go. The dockhand did not make an appearance until we'd already had one line secured. He was a young guy who didn't seem to know what he was doing; another dockhand soon joined him and provided some instruction. He handed my companion the fuel nozzle and disappeared. We could not see the pump from the boat and had to keep walking back and forth to see our progress. The pumpout was pretty much the same; the other dockhand simply handed it off to me. In other words, lackluster service. But I guess when you buy cheap fuel you shouldn't expect more.
On my second visit, I called ahead early in the morning to make sure the pumpout was still functioning. I got a voicemail system and left my name and number. I was enroute when I called again and got the voicemail system. No response again on the radio for multiple calls. I was single-handing and managed to get the boat onto the dock without much trouble. But when I went to the office, I found it locked with a note on the door saying that they were closed for a party until 2 PM. On a Tuesday morning.
It's pretty clear to me at this point that Pelican Yacht Club has absolutely no interest in providing service to customers. I will not be back.
If you're in the area, I recommend Safe Harbor, which also has good fuel prices (although not as good). See my separate review about that experience.Business Response:
Thank you for taking the time to review our Fuel Dock. We do appreciate the feedback, and use these comments to provide better service for our clients. Unfortunately, the day you arrived we had closed for our annual Holiday Party - we were closed for 2 hours and by coincidence this is when you arrived. We took great care to notify everyone for several weeks leading up to that day, but are truly sorry that you were inconvenienced. One other note - since we never received your calls, we believe you may have been calling the wrong number, as we had no messages or missed calls that were unreturned that day (or any other) - The club has two numbers and we fear that you may have been calling the main clubhouse which is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We hope that you will give us another chance when you are in the area, and look forward to serving you in the future! We take great pride in offering competitive pricing and exceptional service, and we will continue to strive to be the best marina on the Treasure Coast!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The marina and facilities (bathrooms, showers, swimming pool) are very nice and clean. There was no on site laundry, but a large coin op laundry is right down the street. The staff are friendly and helpful. We did not use the Yacht Club except for the pool. There are many restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, there are strong tides and currents. Gage was really helpful catching our lines and setting up our power. We would stay again.

Great staff though in strong winds it gets a little chopping by the slips. Big advantage is location...easy in and out to running the Coast. Great restaurant at the YC on premises. Just dress nice. No cuts off or grungy t shirts.
Business Response:
We certainly appreciate that you took the time to review our marina! We think we have fantastic dining here, and our first class chef can really put out a spread! We look forward to serving you again soon!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

I needed a place to sort out a faulty alternator and pretty much every place else was full or wanted over $2 per foot. Even though they cater to larger sport fishers, Vonnie the dock master and her crew got us sorted out for the several days we waited for parts. Showers, laundry, WIFI, and several cafes and a small grocer under a mile. Would visit again.
