Donny has excellent moorings, a nice dock, and a very helpful personality. We intended to stay for a night, but winds kept us here for a week. Gorgeous island with super friendly people.

Our 3rd stay at Donny's this time on the end of the linear dock. Prices have gone up to $75/ day on the dock plus $5 for 30A electric. Large water fills are $0.20/ gallon.
Donny has enlarged the docks since we were here2 yrs ago. Also added a sandy, shaded gathering area. Donny is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful & just a really wonderful man who looks after all boaters, working hard to make a living post Dorian. Check out the museum in New Plymouth on Tuesday/Thurs. read about HHI rescued 6 during a Whale rage in 1987.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Stayed on one of Donny's mooring with our 50' mono 6' draft. We were in town for the NYE Junkinoo. Donny the owner was super friendly and provided us directions to the town and some helpful tips. The facilities are very nice, especially the new shoreside beach, picnic tables and shade coverings. All lite up at night. Mooring appeared to be in good shape.

Donnie's is a great place to stay on a mooring. He and his crew are very helpful. There is plenty of room at the dinghy dock for going to shore and New Plymouth is a short walk away. We waited out three days and nights of 30 knot winds on a mooring most comfortably.
Our draft is 5 feet, so we entered and exited at high tide. The entrance to Black Sound is shallow and we cleared with less than 12 inches under the keels. Follow the markers, reference your chart and you should be okay. Once in, the bay, the water was plenty deep.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Stayed for a week, great little place, very sheltered. Limited electric, we were at end of dock and power was down to 105volts, didn't run A/C. Water available at several places on dock. Nothing fancy but clean, friendly, very convenient to New Plymouth. Donny always willing to assist.

What a great place to tie up. Donny took such good care of us and when you hear what he went through with hurricane Dorian and Covid, its amazing he is even there. Donny is the best and we loved spending a night on the dock there, we met so many fellow cruisers, it was awesome and the prices are so fair! Its basic nut perfectly clean and adequate. Go Donny!

Nice docks, with water and "limited" power, we were fine running our AC until another boat came in and then the breakers on the dock would trip.
Donny is great, a very busy guy bit will help you in anyway he can.

The place is great and Donny is a gracious perfect host, he lives on the premises and will help with anything. The mooring balls are good (big wide catamarans and plenty of space) with protection, the dock is in great shape with 20 amp power and water. Brand New BIG washer/ dryer for 4.00 a load, bathroom is big and clean and the grounds are grass with trees for shade. The beach is a 5 minutes walk from the marina. Here is a little summary of our stay and why I love the place and smaller marinas-We had call in early as we needed to go to the clinic with an ear infection, as soon as we docked he offered to take us so we did not want to walk on the heat, then we asked to use the marina bicycles for a mother's day lunch, he gave us the review on places to go and lended us his golf cart as a mother's day gift. Love the place!

Great Marina and mooring. Donny is cruiser friendly with the facilities to match. Nothing fancy, a warm welcome, shower, wc, trash cans, dinghy dock, electric and water on solid docks and maintained moorings in a well protected location. Donnys lives on site and is always available if you need help. The little town, 5 minutes walk, has customs check in, restaurant, grocery stores, small hardware store. Alongside fuel dock close by.

All depends on what you want. What you get here is very good, very well maintained docks, clean showers, quiet atmosphere, helpful assistance. If you are willing to help Donny, there is nothing he won't do to help you. If you aren't willing to give back some (pick up trash, help maintain clean bathroom, help Donny at times when he needs it) then go to another marina where you are spoon fed and nothing is expected of you. But, I really loved being at Donny's. Many long-term boaters there who help each other, look after your boat when you are gone. And, it is a quiet, very safe location.

Donny is great: he treats every visitor like a returning friend. He has several mooring balls for rent on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis in the well protected Black Sound. It's a quick and easy walk to town from his docks. It's a very relaxing place where you will feel at home and can't wait to return.
