Had plenty of room and good holding. Also didn't seem to be as rolly as other anchorages in the Exuma's. Dinghy'd to Thunderball Grotto and Staniel Cay from here.

Not a quiet, serene anchorage but very welcome when big NE & E winds blow. Exposed to the W. Lots of room & great holding in clean sand. The further N you go, the less pig beach traffic. Laundry, liquor & beer outlet are combined in the building 300 yds behind SCYC across the local recreation space. Trash disposal in a trailer just behind SCYC or a local boat comes by regularly to pick up (fee). Shopping: Birks Convenience Store (blue store) small but varied, Pink Pearl (larger, has fresh local bread 1100 M-F) are adjacent - take 2nd L 500yds down beachside road out of SCYC, then 1st R up the small hill. Isles General Store & Inn is best accessed by dinghy past the government dock. Like all Bahamian stores, produce & selection commensurate with most recent Mailboat visit!

It is a good and well frequented anchorage with easy beach access. The excitement about the group of ordinary pigs we didn't share, it is a business opportunity for tour boats from Staniel Cay. The dinghy ride to the Staniel YC against SE winds and waves can be a very wet one. But the YC restaurant and the 2 islands main supermarkets, we preferred the pink one, are worth the tour.

Comfortable anchorage with no current or surge. This anchorage is always busy, but there is always room. 3 beaches: one famous for the pigs, one that cruisers have built a picnic site on, and one that is open for dog walks. 1.5 miles to Staniel Cay for restaurants, shopping and Thunderball Grotto. Full BTC LTE cell service.
