Be sure to stop by Olive's Bakery for fresh bread. Another favorite is Hidden Treasures along the New Bight Fish Fry. The menu features Bahamian dishes. Chef Trevor is amazing! We had the grilled lobster tail and jerk grouper. The mango daiquiris are fantastic as well! It is located in the bright yellow building just north of the sailing club. You can park there or take your dinghy right up to beach in front of their restaurant - very cruiser friendly. (Note: This is the same restaurant that was previously located NW of the New Bight Food Market. They moved to the fish fry location on April 10, 2024.). The location has limited seating so the owners recommend calling for a reservation so they will be sure to have a table available. (Phone #: 242-424-9237)

The bight is shallow so deep er draft vessels should anchor further offshore. Pay attention to your depth sounder when approaching. There are some small uncharted coral heads to watch out for. Holding is good in sand. Limited wind protection from the north and east. We rode out 20 knot winds from the NE. Going ashore is easy if you don't mind beaching your dinghy. There are a number of small places to get a bite to eat. Hiking to the Hermitage is worth the effort.

The beach was fine, but the restaurants along the shore were basically shacks. The "popular" one we went to had broken and ragged seating. Aside from the Hermitage, this anchorage was disappointing.

Unfortunately weather was not with us with winds clocking West, where little protection on Cat exists, so our visit to the island was short. This is a great anchorage overall with plenty of room for lots of boats. Beach your dinghy in any sandy area on the beach. In front of the police station works well.
The Hermitage is a short walk up the road. For photos see https://www.facebook.com/100063618668322/posts/388047469992539/
There are several restaurants/bars on the beach just to the North. The blue shack even has ice cream!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
