We loved this stop. Be sure to go past the Reedville Market before dropping anchor -- Cockrell Creek seafood is across the creek and there is a huge menhaden boat that needs to get in there, so you don't want to block them. We took the dog ashore at the restaurant docks. Sadly we got in Sunday night and left Tuesday morning, so not much was open. We walked down to Fawn's Delectables for a treat Monday morning! The town is historic with amazing Queen Anne style Victorian homes. Lots of nice walking on the side streets. Snug spot. Easy approach from the bay.

Anchored in mud (smelly!) in 12 feet just north of the Reedville Market dock. Used their large dock for going ashore and were never questioned. Next door is the Woody Boater Global Headquarters, a volunteer organization for wooden boat restoration and publisherofamagazine. The entire historic area of town is a short walk from a really interesting Fisherman's Museum on the north, down to the Crazy Crab restaurant on the point. Historic homes from the 19th century line the street built when local fishermen were making fortune s on the Menhaden oil fish. The fish is still caught, but it's all corporate now at Omega Proteins. When the wind is from the South, the whole town smells of boiling fish, which may bother the visitor but not the locals. Very nice stop.

Approach is straight forward with deep water in the channel. Anchoring upwind of the fish plant advisable. Very quaint historic town with lots of charm. Great museum reflecting the significance of the area. Town is quite and even more so with the covid experience. Good access by dingy and walk of mainstreet. No shopping nearby but great little ice cream and coffee shop.
