Rocky bottom left the anchor chain clean with hardly any mud. Private island permits cruisers to come ashore and enjoy the sandy beach.

Finding a spot here can be a little tricky...there's not much wind protection and there are often many other boats anchored for the night. Holding is mixed, make sure your anchor sets well and expect reversing current.

Dix Island is privately owned, but the owners maintain a mowed trail system and welcome visitors so long as they stay on the trails. Birch Island (immediately east of Dix) is a MITA site. You can land for camping or picnicking; it has gorgeous beaches on the north side.

Some areas between the islands are scoured and it has taken us a couple times to get the hook to set well once or twice - however a lovely anchorage with a nice island and beach to explore and stretch legs.
