Dock hands skillfully arrange boats as close together as possible. The length of the fixed face dock was at full capacity with around 4-5 rafted boats. Since this is the fall migration south, it was expected. The restaurant's parking lot was also full on a Sunday night-- appears to be popular with locals. The 16oz prime rib dinner was tasty and filling.

Atlantic Yacht Basin offers top notch workmanship for maintenance. It's a very busy yard. We have stayed along the face dock and inside the covered slips- all visits were excellent. Groceries and restaurants are a reasonable walk. During this last visit we had a rental car and ability to explore Chesapeake. Restaurants choices are great. Hardware store and Home Depot close by. Local transportation (Uber or taxi) meant longer waits than typical in an urban setting. Diesel pricing was very competitive.

Harbormaster Bob's friendly telephone demeanor while taking my reservation and answering my questions was a pleasure. The dock has one 50 amp service pedestal. The town's fire vessels are docked here. An active boat launch ramp cuts the marina in half. The marina has limited services, but is a close walk over the bridge to town. The $3/ft for overnight stay is reasonable when compared to other CT towns close by.

Top notch marina with helpful friendly staff. Although we didn't use it, the pool appeared to be a fun activity. The shipyard looks like it's a 'dialed in' service yard. Most of the marina is on a small island, so the marina runs a 6-person ferry to access 'the mainland'. The colonial town of Essex was worth a stroll. The marina says it's pet friendly, but the outdoor deck on their restaurants only allows service animals.

We were told that all transient boats over 50 feet are assigned to the fixed dock that carries a 5-6 foot tide range. This was a surprise less than 24 hours before our arrival and a hardship to get our 85-pound dog off the boat. The staff suggested launching the dinghy and motoring to the dinghy dock. They also offered a break on the $4 per person launch fee for dog walking.
We also received conflicting information about mooring balls. I asked if there were mooring balls for a 62' boat available instead of the slip. I was told that indeed there was, but had to send a message through Dockwa to change my reservation. The response said that the ball had been reserved for 6 months and was no longer unavailable. Then when I talked with the office, there were no such mooring balls for boats over 55 feet.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

We stayed at South Seas Resort twice this winter-- and each visit was a pleasure. The amenities of the resort are spectacular and well kept. The marina staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. The pools with waterslide for the grandchildren was well used. We enjoyed several days on the beach-- dog friendly, a rare find. Shuttle service to south end of the resort allows access to restaurants outside of the resort, but it was nice to see the Dockside Restaurant open again.

We stayed at this beautiful resort several times this winter. The marina staff is courteous and helpful. The last 3-day stay with the grandchildren was fantastic. They enjoyed the organized poolside games. The restaurant Bongo's has a good variety of lunch and dinner choices. (The indoor restaurant could use a little more decorating, but the food was good. The dog-friendly beach with drink service was a great way to spend an afternoon. The trolley service makes access to the town area a piece of cake.

We stayed at the Naples City Dock several times during this winter and enjoyed each visit. The professional staff is friendly and helpful.-- keeping the docks clean and safe. Fuel prices reasonable. Laundry facilities are on an honor system. Very interesting to watch the variety of private planes overhead on approach or departure from the Naples airport. Short walk to downtown Naples a bustling area of exceptional restaurants and shops. Easy walk to Third Street shops. Long walks with the dog was a pleasure. Looking forward to next winter for more visits.

A gentle current held the boat in place, but we deployed a stern anchor because of the narrow channel. The park at the east end of the channel was easy on/off to walk the dog. Beautiful white cranes decorate the shores. Although behind the tree line across the TennTom, the opening of the channel was precisely the spot for a colorful sunset. Verizon cell minimal and in/out. Lovely setting with marina and RV park. A short walk (1.5 miles) to the Johnsonville Battle Park. Upon arrival Billy, harbormaster, met us for fueling and dockage. Billy was friendly and offered the courtesy van because the restaurant was closed during our stay. Channel into the harbor is well marked although we carefully watched our 5' depth when we stirred up a little bottom mud.

Leland is a MUST stop for the visiting cruiser-- the Fishtown area is picturesque and the perfect spot to pick up smoked fish at Carlson's. The quaint village of Leland hosts galleries, shops and a wonderful grocery store steps away from the harbor. The harbor staff knows their stuff and keeps the harbor clean and tidy-- no small task with sea gulls marking up the docks daily! The sunsets from the marina are spectacular, jaw dropping awesome with Manitou Island along the horizon. The new marina building is lovely-- brand new shower facilities still have that new construction smell.

Shore facilities are top notch-- clean and nicely maintained. Security pleasantly surprised us when our guests arrived at 1am-- security guard was quickly at the boat making sure all was okay and these very early morning visitors were welcome. We were grateful for warning about strict enforcement in parking lots designated for seasonal boaters and day visitors.

Clean and well maintained docks with lots green space nearby for picnics, dog walking and relaxing. It's a short walk to the municipal park and good quality restaurants in town. Harbormaster John was friendly and helpful. The February 2019 storm has done some damage in the marinas around, but Jacobson's appears to have the work complete in May 2019. High water heights make the fixed dock a bit low, but very manageable.

The town of Manistee has good dining options a short walk from the marina. Damage from a winter storm took out a number of docks and the parts of the Riverwalk boardwalk. Repairs were underway in May 2019 and looked to be completed soon. Young friendly staff were eager to provide fuel and pump out before assisting with dockage. Being early in the season, they may have been training for the busy summer ahead. They were careful pulling fuel lines over the deck, trying to avoid any mess. The water level is high this early summer, so the fixed docks and wall are very close to the water surface (about a foot at the docks, and less at the wall). The facilities at the marina are outstanding-- clean rest rooms, large fishing cleaning station. Short walk into town for a good number of restaurant choices.

Shipshape facilities and quaint location! Marina is clean and well taken care of. Staff was eager to help with dining options and area attractions. A bit surprised that there wasn't any pump out service-- but two other nearby marinas had facilities. We were too early in the season to see the Water/Light show-- but the brand new grass tiered stadium that replaced the bleachers looks like a wonderful spot for an evening picnic. Easy walk to the beach and downtown areas. The Tri-Cities Historical Museum (free) is a walk through time-- from geological formations, native culture, fur trading, logging, pioneer settlement to the Victorian era. An amazing sea tale of the SS Michigan on the second floor shouldn't be missed.
