    Boca Grande Marina
    May 2024
We visited this marina a day before the Tarpon fishing season opening tournament began. We were lucky to get a slip since all the tournament sized boats filled every other available space. We had a great time, the staff and fishermen exuded a fun vibrancy and everyone had a good time. The marina appeared recently refurnished, very clean. Even the dockside pump-out was painless, although pricy at $20 added to our per foot charge. With the lack of functional pump-out services in this area glad to pay it. The only signs of hurricane Ian were found ashore but I must say this town has worked a miracle in their recovery effort. The very walkable downtown was spotless. Our stay only a few days limited our food sampling but offerings ran the gamut from bar food to high end so all appetites were satisfied. With our 21 foot beam we were moored on the outer T head which put us facing the well marked inlet and while there is a formidable shoal guarding this inlet a strong NE wind managed to disturb our sleep with an annoying chop. Not complaining just informing. We will come back.

Water on fuel dock: $10 flat cost; not metered
Dock hands very helpful landing and leaving. Use channel markers, ensure you go west of last G marker; turning port to fuel dock. Not much room on dock; radio in to ensure they can accommodate. Some waiting room on north side of dock but it is very narrow—stay west if waiting. East is very shallow.

We tried to get a slip over July 4th weekend however they were booked so we just stopped there for lunch. Food was good the staff was very helpful and pleasant. We did notice our boat bouncing around from a lot of wakes. Not sure if we would want to spend the night.

Current dockhands are very competent and professional. The shoal is quite visible and avoidable. Clean RR and tile showers with codes. Quaint village still recovering from Ian's 225 MPH gusts. Trailer cell towers with generators running 24h/day means poor coverage but great wifi at docks. We had lots of wakes from flats boats, then found out there is a Tarpon Tournament this week!

Beautiful location and great staff. Had a wonderful 1 night stay here, however the wind shifted to NE and our night was like living in a washing machine. As long as you have favorable wind direction this would be a wonderful stop, laundry room has 1 washer and 1 dryer, but very economical prices, showers are private, restaurant was excellent. Loved the access to the beach and town. We rented a go,d cart, but could have easily walked where we wanted to go. Still recovering from Ian damage, but so glad we were able to spend a night here even with the rocky conditions.

We stayed here one night in November 2021. It was awesome. The staff told us what markers to hug on our way in as the entrance has a little shoal area. They helped us with our lines and even brought a step over so it was easy to get off the boat. Everyone was WONDERFUL! Lovely! Dinner on site was delicious. The grounds were well taken care of! Very clean!!! We scootered to the sunset on the Gulf side as the island is only 5 blocks wide. Read about the history or Tarpon fishing on the south side of the island. What a beautiful island!

Very small marina but acccomodates boats of all sizes. A large (about 100 ft) boat came in while we were there. Ask for directions before coming in because there is an encroaching shoal. Very pretty spot. Very competent and accommodating dock staff. Well protected. Restaurant on site. Pump out $20. Golf carts available for rent. Quaint beautiful town. We will stop here again if in the area.

We have been stopping at Boca Grande Marina with our current boat and previous sailboat for nearly twenty years. The facilities are immaculate and clean. Although there are comments about rude staff-- this has NEVER been the case for us. The staff has been friendly and professional. The dockside restaurant has great food, but a short walk into town has other wonderful choices. The quaint village has a few nice shops and beach area. We rent a golf cart and ride on the paved trails for bikes and walkers. The lighthouse at the south end of the island has history displays of the island's history of railroad depot and shipping industry. The library has an impressive shell collection.

We stayed here for 3 nights because of high winds. The dock hands were super helpful when we came in during very windy conditions on our maiden voyage of our "new to us" boat. They provided help with the tying of the lines and brought us steps to get off the boat. We used the showers here which were very clean. We rented a golf cart to see the island (well worth it). We didn't eat at the restaurants but we did go for a drink and checked out the menu (which seemed decent). We did laundry here and it was pretty cheap ($1 for washer $1.50 for dryer).

Outstanding stop! The dock hands were courteous and helpful. Strongly recommend renting a golf cart and see the island.

Male staff member extremely rude. It's almost like they don't care if they retain customers. Store is nice and food is ok.
