So the marina is apparently completely rebuilt after a hurricane , not sure which. The docks are new and in fabulous condition. Plenty of depth. The instructions on approach and to the dock are from a VERY seasoned marine professional. I stopped to pick up fuel first and was offered a dock hand to ride around to my slip. I'm a solo looper. There was also someone to catch lines. These guys are killing it with SERVICE!
They walk around more than once a day to check lines on boats. Trash taken away each morning. An easy walk to restrooms , showers and laundry. It's a unisex bathroom 4 toilets and sinks each behind a closed doors. Three showers at the end, one oversized each with curtains. Everything was spotless. Laundry had 3 washers and 3 dryers new, quarters or use the app. There is ice, and drinks available through the ships store more supplies to come I'm told . Some type of boaters lounge also in the works. The restaurant on site is not open yet. Lots of room to walk, but not anyplace to really walk to. The marina is right next to the Port with fair sized freighters , trains coming and going though not busy enough to be a bother and the port does not distract from the view. The downtown is a little far to walk, but a busy road . I am told there is plenty to do downtown and across the bridge at the beach. For a ride, uber or some type of transportation suggested for safety due to traffic.
Att had 3 bars, WiFi ok. Reasonable protection from the wind, some wave action from the waterway. A GREAT discount for fuel and dockage for Loopers!
As a solo looper I felt safe here.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Great stop! Floating docks in excellent condition. Very protected from wind and waves. Fuel and pump out easy access. I did not use facility restroom, shower, laundry. The docks are gated. I'm a single woman traveling alone, I felt safe. It was an easy walk to downtown museums, restaurants etc. The staff were super nice and helpful. ATT 3-4 bars. Only negative for me is no WiFi on my dock, though staff said that's in the works.

12/4-6/2024 Overall a terrific stop and I would return if in the area again. Floating docks in good condition, restrooms, laundry all clean. Definitely a tourist place but everything was nice. The temperatures overnight were unseasonably cold with high winds. The wind chill gave early morning feels like in the upper 20's. So when I lost power at 7 am I was not surprised. It turned out it was the pedestal I was sharing with another boat. It was fine all night. Staff on sight very responsive, it took an hour to resolve. WiFi was weak on my dock. Cell service 3 bars ATT. If you get access to transportation plenty of shopping available nearby but too far to walk.

Anchor easy to set and held all night. Wind was from NNE on arrival with gusts to 25 mph, very good protection, suspect good protection from the south as well, less protection from winds from due east/west. No boat wake at all. 2-3 bars for cell phone-ATT. I didn't launch the dinghy because it was cold, but others in the anchorage did, easy sand beaches! My Garmin Chart plotter indicated a depth of 2' MLW from western approach, entered between the 2 no wake signs and approach depths 8-10' at absolute low tide. Inside basin depths 10-15'. I'm told by locals you can exit on the eastern end but it looked too shallow for my vessel.

I followed detailed instructions from prior review for entering above green marker at mm 277.9 the depths were slightly higher crossing the bar, but described depths were close. This was a secondary choice anchorage, ran out of daylight. There are some tree branches overhead from down river banks. Set the anchor with bow just beyond the curve, @75 yds in from edge of channel. The anchor set easily enough, a stern anchor deployed due to narrow body of water. During the night the boat was rocked hard by down bound tug. Then thunderstorms swept through later during night and bow anchor broke free and was difficult to reset. When anchor's were fully retrieved there was no mud on either anchor, all chain rode came up clean. att 1 bar. Was not as protected from wind as would have expected. Down bound side had @6'bank that was heavily wooded. Up bound bank not amenable to going ashore with a pet/for a walk. With single engine and bow thruster enough room to spin boat, had to be careful because mast was up due to tree branches. Turning a larger boat perhaps a challenge.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Anchored @1/3 way into cove closer to south shore in 28'. Mud, good holding. It looked like there was a sandy shore, but it is close to winter pool so not sure the shoreline would be accessible earlier in the season. ATT alternated between 1-2 bars, 4 bars just outside the cove.

So extended stay @9/1-11/18/2024. I had a covered slip. It was hard to decide on a rating. The staff and service department are 5 star! The docks were in very good condition. The directions for coming into the marina were excellent. As a solo travel boater I felt safe, the docks are gated. The fuel and pump out dock are easy to use and available 24/7 in season. The restaurant on site was very nice. A good selection of parts etc in marine store on site.
On the less excellent side, the restroom was functional, staff seemed to do their best to keep it clean. I understand it is going to be renovated. The marina is next to some type of rock pulverizing plant. Not much bother in the way of noise but it generates dust, making cleaning the boat a more frequent task. Though I might not have noticed if just there for a day or two.
There was no WiFi.
3.5 stars would be a better average score.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Stayed 11/19/2024 for one night. The woman on the phone was helpful and knowledgeable. It was $25 for the night with power for a 36' boat. I used the 30 amp outlet at the upstream end of the dock, there was also a 50 amp outlet there as well. Plenty of depth at winter pool. I was waked once in the early evening by a passing tugboat, when I called out on vhf the captain was apologetic I asked that he pass on that there was a pleasure vessel there overnight to other tugboats. Several more passed during the night with out issue. Dock in good condition, adequate cleats. Good cell service.

11/19/2024 using review from earlier this month I left the main channel using the channel shown on my chart plotter, suspect there is a green buoy missing at the entrance, but a large tree that appeared to be aground where a green buoy might have been made the point regarding depth. I always had at least 10' or more in the channel entering the marina. I arrived after hours so no one on site that I saw, but was given contact information for a security guard if needed. Other than walking the docks I did not go exploring. The person who took my reservation was very helpful in making the reservation but was not familiar with transient dock layout. This turned out to be a non issue as there were several places to choose from. There was only 50 amp power which I had been told, no cleats to tie to, just the support poles and the structure used to support the walkway. A pretty , quiet location. I left at sunrise. Cell service with ATT was adequate.

The staff were awesome, so helpful and friendly. Within the marked channel, hard to see initially due to the sun's glare, was at 6' or more in places at winter pool. When I left the next morning, and had trouble getting turned around due to wind I did find some spots less than 4' -soft mud. The cinnamon bun was fabulous. Using the courtesy car easy. The docks are in good condition. The WiFi was good. Pretty place to walk or hike.

July 20&21. I stayed here last year as well, though a longer stay last year due to weather. A pleasant working marina. A small but steady group of transients stay here. The staff, which appeared this year to be two women, were very pleasant and helpful. There is some wave activity usually related to passing boats on the river. If you are on the floating finger docks, they are a bit rocky with the waves. But, not unsafe. I used the laundry facilities both this year and last. The machines were neat, clean and in good working order same applies to the women's restroom. As with many marinas depending on where you are berthed it can be a walk to restrooms and laundry. A bonus from my standpoint is they now sell ice!

A one night stay. It was peaceful, safe. I am a woman traveling solo. I left the next morning before staff came on duty. 2 folks from neighboring slips came out to be sure I got off ok.
