This is the simple part, what comes next is more challenging.
Natchez Trace Recreation Area is not really an anchorage: The icon is a starting point for departures into at least five or six different “fingers” each one of which contains one or more really good anchoring spots. The area is not developed at all and each of these fingers has excellent protection from wind, waves, and wakes. Each has scenic beauty. Shore access in all the finger is where you can find a patch of sand to land your dinghy. While there is fair cellular reception at the anchorage icon, there is little or no reception once you get back into a cove. The most challenging part of anchoring will be to find a patch of sufficiently shallow water with sufficient swing room in your chosen finger but, wandering around we found plenty of good spots with protection from differing directions. During the day your privacy may be interrupted by passing bass boats but they are moving slow and are not a problem back in the coves. For those interested in a quick off and on you should check out the finger on the east shore just as you get off the channel. For those who are looking to rest a while, you have a smorgasbord of choices.

Mud holding was excellent with no current. Forests surrounding each bay in this Five Finger Bay was serene. Some sandy areas to take the dog ashore. Sprint cell signal okay, Verizon not at all.
