Enter Crooks Bend North at by turning off the travelway at least 200 yards north of the green buoy at mile marker 277.9 to avoid the major bar extending off the upstream point of the island with 18 feet of water on entering, 12 feet at the bar and then back to 18 feet plus all the way back to the anchorage icon. Just beyond the icon the water shoals to 18 feet for 300 plus yards, providing the best protection and anchoring depth on the north side of the bend. Good wind, wave, and wake protection with just enough current to help keep the boat oriented on anchor. No shore access. Cell reception is just adequate with ATT and Verizon having 2 bars, and T-Mobile with a single bar. Leave back upstream and honor the bar coming off the upstream end of the island.
