This is a fantastic marina, and great staff. We tried to stay here, but with our depth of 6' we were unable to as we hit bottom (soft). i feel the 2 spots at the end ot the pier are deep enough, but they were occupied. The marina staff went out of their way to help us, and met us at the town dock next door to tie up.Very accommodating marina. Very clean, and free golf care to the grocery store that is 1 mile away.

(Directions to the Food Lion about 3 miles away are attached to the steering wheel.) The quaint town offers nice restaurant choices and nearby hardware store.

Belhaven did not disappoint... again
Our travels this year again took us into Belhaven. We decided to pull into Wynns Gut, just west of and associated with Belhaven Marina. The wind was moving pretty good, as was the current. Our Capt had the docking handled, but condition made it challenging. I looked up to see a gentleman running across the field. He grabbed a line and helped us tie up. After we were secured, he said he was returning from a baseball game, saw us struggling and came running. He was very helpful and knew just what we needed.
We found out he was with the Belhaven Marina and when we came to pay the meager $1/ft bill, we had a lovely chat. The High School Boys and Girls Baseball team are going to state. That was the game he was coming from. There's a new brewery in town and a new bakery in town. Business on Main Street is expanding, and they love the boaters pulling in.
In a previous visit to Belhaven we had a similar welcome from the owner of the Spoon River Restaurant. you can read about that in an article in Proptalk Magazine, https://www.proptalk.com/serendipity-belhaven . On another visit, on Halloween, we stopped to chat with folks on main street and ended up getting invited to the town Halloween Party at the RiverBend Cultural Arts Center. We just can't get enough of this great little town.
There is so much going on in this small town. It's been booming in recent years and there's tremendous excitement about it. And the folks are so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We make a point to stop here often.

This place didn't look like much but looks are certainly deceiving in this case! The people were fantastic and helped tie up. They had a nice ship's store with a neat promotional special. We took the golf cart to the grocery store about a mile and a half away and was impressed with how clean and well-kept Belhaven was. Clean bathrooms and showers with towels. Five other Loop boats happened to be there at the same time and we all met for docktails near the marina office. We would definitely stop here again.

Great staff , amenities and easy access to grocery store and Ace hardware. The complimentary golf cart was a plus. We'd return to eat at Spoon River in a heartbeat. One caveat. We won't return if the wind is forecast to come from the bay at night. We thought the breakwater would mitigate wave issues but it did not. We had storms night we were there and blew out a 3' taylor made fender as we were pummeled against the dock. Even had difficulty getting off the dock to leave due to wave action .

As others have stated, staff is excellent and the marina is in a good location. Very nice shower facilities and they provide towels. They earnestly want to provide the best service on the ICW. Free use of golf cart, and they provide lawn games which we enjoyed. The items that prevent them from receiving 5 stars is 1) no pumpout- pumpout is at a city dock next door which sometimes has boats docked overnight, and 2) the fixed docks beyond the wall are somewhat narrow which can be a bit harrowing at night.

There is a covered lounge area by the office. The deck above the lounge offers a great view of the marina and surrounding area. Have stayed here many times, Should be a PREMIER category for this exceptional Marina.
Just retuned from a season of cruising, stayed in many marinas, nothing compares with the friendless, overboard helpfulness, super cared for facilities, showers and bathrooms will put to shame many I have docked.
Greg has made exceptional improvements, added supersize fenders ball to protect the boats, widened the walkways to facilitate boarding.
Did I mention the picnic and communal areas with games like cricket etc?
And block away from hardware store and very nice eateries.
If you have not stopped here before, you should try.

Great marina with many amenities. It has been two years since we visited Belhaven last, and the town has much more now to offer. The ICW Brewery 500 ft away serves up fantastic tasting beer and other beverages. The hardware store 1/2 block down is well stocked, and a grocery store is a quick golf cart ride away. Many restaurants and other food options to choose from. A couple of fun stores to browse are here too.

Free laundry (they provide soap) and really nice showers (they provide shampoo and such). Beer and wine in the office and several restaurants to choose from (we found the margaritas at the Mexican place). Loaner golf cart can get you to Food Lion. Nice to walk around this lovely town. Nice little marina adjacent to downtown Belhaven. Great service from the dockmaster, who met me at the nearby town dock to pump out and then helped me tie up at the marina. Very patient.
I loved the layout of the marina, with two long dock walls separated by a grassy area. My pups loved running in that grass and lounging in the shade. Very pet friendly.
There are two large bathrooms, each with a shower. Very clean, with towels, soaps, and shampoo provided. A laundry room has one washer and dryer, both free. They even have soap on hand. (This was much appreciated as both my pups got seasick on the trip down the Neuse River from Oriental.)
There's a back deck with an upper deck being constructed. Locals and transients meet in the afternoon for an informal happy hour. Lots of friendly folks, including Nick and Tracy who winter there and act as harbor hosts.
And did I mention the good fuel price for diesel?
Several restaurants and shops, including a well-stocked Ace Hardware store, were within walking distance. The Mexican place, Mariachi's, had a great lunch special with more food than I could eat; my lunch with an iced tea cost less than $10. Where can you get a table service meal at that price these days?
Highly recommended for a relaxing stay. I'll be back.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

With all the great reviews, we had high expectations for Belhaven Marina. Our experience wasn't entirely positive. It was our first time at the marina and nobody really help us to dock. It was a cold day, but there was no lounge to sit in. There were only two bathrooms and by the time we got to take a shower, there were no clean towels left. They did give us a small discount as we were on the new dock without water or electricity. We had a good meal in a Mexican restaurant nearby.

Fully stocked with towels, shampoo, etc. Grab a chair and a $3 beer in the marina office and visit for a bit. Make sure you get the t-shirt/koozie/drink bundle ;)
Docks are in good shape, but a little bit of a hop to get off the boat. Just be patient and watch your step. The fuel line comes right to your slip.

Belhaven Marina is a good marina, and they seem to be trying real hard to please, but they have a couple of things that need some attention to get it to 5 stars. We'll get to that shortly. First the good stuff:
The dock hands were very helpful getting us tied up in a strong westerly wind on the east side of the dock so that is a big plus.
Beer ($3.00) and wine in the marina office. Hat's off to whoever thought of that!
Bathrooms have some interesting decor, and are functional and clean.
Town is close by. A good hardware store, a couple of galleries, and it looks like they are also building a couple more storefronts out of one of the buildings. The whole town in one block! Rest of town is houses which mostly are nice turn of the century structures.
Two restaurants: Spoon River, which tries too hard to be "upscale". Puts out a good presentation, and the food is good, but they are expensive for what it is. Fish Hooks is home cooked meal, basic fare at a reasonable price. Ice cream store across the street is also a winner.
Now the downside: Laundry is free, but no AC in that room. It wasn't real hot when we were there, but I can't imagine being in that room on a hot summer day. And they left a gallon of bug spray sitting in the laundry tub. Bad sign!!
Dock is old and not level. It seems sturdy enough, except for the last section by the yard, but you can tell it's been there a while. Could use some new wood and leveling.
Bugs! The power pedestals are on the land side of the dock, so they run the power cable under a hinged dock board. Dirt and wet rotted boards underneath breed bugs. Ants used the power cable as a bridge to the boat and we spent most of the day getting rid of the little critters. That's a big downer. Not sure how to get around this, but last thing a boater needs is bugs on the boat. My solution was to let part of the power cord hang in the water to interrupt the bridge. That and some ant bait from the hardware store seemed to have done the trick.
All in all, in a pinch I'd go there again. But given a choice, I'd choose another marina.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Town is just across the street and all the local shops have a such great customer service! Owner at Marker 32 boutique offered to post our letters because there was no mailbox in the area. Basic marina, really nice service with the omni-present Greg (harbormaster) to help you. About as "walk-to-everything" as you can get in Belhaven NC. A couple of really good restaurants and a pub within a 200 yard walk of the harbor. Fueling is "in-slip" - which reduces the need for maneuvering. Pump outs are at the city docks just west - and require a $5 token from the Ace Hardware in town.
Service was really super - we had several odd questions and specific things we needed to do, and the folks at BHM really stepped up to assist. Free laundry, clean toilets and showers. And location - you just can't beat that!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The Belhaven Marina is a great little marina with a lot of southern charm. The attention to detail on the grounds he is very good and the staff is very accommodating Dockmaster Greg and Mick both went out of your way to meet our every need. The docs are fixed but with large fender balls for a cushioned berth. The town of Belhaven is just a few steps away with several good restaurants and meny historic homes. The dock are off the river and a fixed long-wall with plenty of depth and large fender balls along the long wall assure your boat will be in a secure birth. There was plenty of depth at the dock and power and water were available. We had initially thought we would just stay one night we decide to stay the entire weekend. The town park next-door provided a free jazz concert Saturday night and Mike from the marina played an open mic session himself which was very nice even if it was sparsely attended. There are several great restaurants available including spoon River and a little café that serves a great breakfast. If you're looking for a good place to stop Belhaven is certainly a good option and if they would happen to be full River Forest marina also a good option just a few hundred feet further from the downtown.

There is a town park next door, which last night had a two hour jazz concert followed by Mike the Dockmaster putting on his own open mic concert which was great. There are walkable restaurants and historic homes that can be explored. Would we come here again on our next trip through t- he answer is definitely yes. We are a 47 foot 70,000 pound Trawler and the marina was easy and easy out with not much current and or tide to contend with.
We initially thought we would stay one night but decided to stay for the entire weekend.
There is also another Marina very close - River Forest that looks quite accommodating too.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Gregg is the best! Seemed like he was always there to lend a hand (and sneak a treat to the doggo).
As others have said, its all bulkhead tie but the marina provides ample ball fenders. If its blowing hard from the southeast through southwest, you're going to be rocked unless you can get moved 'back' along the wall a bit.
Clean and uniquely decorated restrooms, gas grills, small putting green and loads of 'common areas' to socialize all help to make this a great stop.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

If you get a chance, this is a very unique marina. The owners have made it a very friendly place to stop. It is bulkhead tie. This is interesting as you can fuel at your tie up for the night. Good Wifi, and easy walk to downtown. A great interesting restaurant right on the main street. Worth the trip. Watch your depth if you go in the west side of the pier.

Great service from staff with help getting in and out,
They had us right on the end of the bulkhead wall, wave slap from a SW wind made a miserable night. Moving us 10' in (the bulkhead was empty) would have made all the difference.
Bring big fenders for the bulkhead tieup.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

First time stopping here on our way South. It was cold and rainy but that didn't dampen the service we received - it was outstanding. Marina manager was very helpful with local knowledge and even offered to make us dinner reservations at Spoon River. Definitely will be back on the trip North.

We have been to marina on five or six different occasions . Each visit is consistently the same. Wonderful facilities, cleanest bathrooms and great service . Can refuel your boat where you are docked. Gregg is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to make your visit enjoyable. The town is quiet, friendly and safe and a great place to walk. We enjoy each trip and make it our favorite destination marina. We use this marina as our benchmark when comparing other marinas.

Service is great here and most everything is OK. Because of Covid maybe, most of the restaurants are closed and the town is pretty closed up. They have a terrific system to fuel you at your slip. Lights at night are very bright and unshielded shining in your boat. Some broken-down docks probably from storm damage.

Great small marina. The dockmaster is very pleasant and helpful. Easy in and out, docks are all facedocks. Wonderful restrooms & showers - best I've seen in the eastern US and Caribbean. They did a great job of decorating and supplies are great, including towels! There's a putting green, various lawn games, and a great setup for having a drink and chatting with dockmates. Very well thought out. We've eaten at both Spoon River and The Tavern at Jack's Neck - both just a block away. Great little town for walking, many attractive houses. Don't miss it!

This is not your normal marina. Owner Brad and General Manager Gregg make you feel like a guest. Even with Covid and tropical storms, capital is being poured into the marina. We stayed four days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is our second visit and we will be back.

Dockmaster Gregg was helpful with tips about the small town of Belhaven-- even made our restaurant reservations. Owner Brad came to the boat to welcome us and offered appreciation of our visit! That doesn't often happen! Every piece of the property was well maintained-- even the gazebo has nice comfortable furniture. Town has a couple nice restaurant choices and a hardware store less than a block from the marina.

We had a great stay here! Gregg is incredibly nice and helpful, and even drove me to Food Lion and picked me up! The laundry is clean and free, with detergent provided. The bathroom is also spotless, with fresh towels and fun nautical photos and memorabilia decorating the walls. They have great plans for expansion and adding a fuel dock. The marina is tucked in off of the river, so despite high winds and waves, we were well protected.

The other reviewers have nailed it perfectly. This is a hidden gem, well worth the visit! Greg is a superstar, nothing less. How many marina showers are not only spotless, but provide you with fresh clean towels and shampoo? Dockage is currently alongside a long dock, but expansion is imminent. And once again, Gregg is "Mr Customer Service...no task too bothersome or declined". A fine boating haven with a fine and attentive staff. I need a couple more stars to rate this quaint little place!!

New Owners Brad Condon and Gregg Baker (General Manager) have taken Belhaven Marina to another level in service. It starts with Gregg and staff meeting you at the dock to tie up your vessel, connect utilities and confirm everything is working properly, and does't stop there. Need a ride, Gregg will accommodate, need a pumpout, Gregg will make sure it's completed properly, need a haul out, Gregg is at the controls making sure everything is done safely and properly. Hot showers with fresh towels, soaps and shampoos add to the convenience of docking here. Oh yeah, free laundry too! Thanks Belhaven Marina.

I stayed at Belhaven Marina for 6 days do to a engine issue. Very friendly, easy in, easy out, even set fenders for docking. Gregg is a top service provider. He has put his military service skills in use for the boating community. I needed transportation, he provided. I needed help, he provided. I can't say enough about the place. While staying at the marina they received a award for being in the top 2% of the marinas in North Carolina. Absolutely amazing what a hidden gem. Thank you Gregg and Brad. Be back soon.
