Some distant road noise and you can hear the sound signals from the lock. Used sonar to avoid trees on the bottom, looked like lots of trees until past the ramp. Good anchorage with good protection.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Minimal current, so wind dictates anchor set. Room for lots of boats. Only a few local fishermen go by during daylight hours.

Beautiful location. We went past the Waterway Guide icon and just past the boat ramp. We had great holding and no wind, but there would be plenty of wind protection. We would anchor here again

Good holding in mud and plenty of swing room for many boats. We were one of four anchored here, with lots of space in between. We fouled our anchor rode in 18 feet of water about 100 yards east of the boat launch; others were farther east and did not. The boat ramp is a good place to take the dinghy ashore. No wakes from the Tenn-Tom, but some traffic at the boat ramp. Close to Heflin Lock and you can hear their sound signals. Very peaceful otherwise. Outstanding T-Mobile reception.

We had great both AT&T and T-Mobile service. The scenery was gorgeous. It was quiet. Anchored in 22' east of the boat ramp. Anchor came out clean. Was nice to get through the Heflin Lock and have a close anchorage nearby and an easy run to Demopolis the following day.

Boat ramp for easy dog relief, though no dock and have to tie dinghy to a bit of submerged rebar on the left or pull dinghy up the ramp. Some have reported slight reversing current with lock openings but we had no problems. Room for many boats.

Anchored about 400 yards past the boat ramp in about 15 feet of water with 50 feet of chain and 30 feet of 3 strand line. Lots of swing room, no stern anchor, lots of fishermen running back and forth in the evening and early morning. 7 boats in the anchorage when we were there with lots of room for more.

Lots of room. There were 7 boats the night we were there and there was room for several more. Barely adequate Verizon cell signal for working but slow internet access. Anchor came up so clean I couldn't tell what the bottom was, but judging from the bank it was sand.

Boat ramp doesn't have a dock, so landing can be a bit muddy depending on conditions. Pit toilets at the ramp parking lot, though in a very nice building.

Move upstream well beyond the icon and the boat ramp on the north side of the river in 20 feet of water and anchor midstream with sufficient current to keep you oriented with the channel. Holding is good and protection for wind and waves is excellent. The boat ramp is a popular launch spot for boats fishing the dam's tailwaters so you may find that on good weekend day, there will be several boats passing you to go fishing. Proper lighting at night is advised. There is room for at least eight boats in a line with ample separation. We had five the night we were there and were not in any way pressed. Shore access is available at the launch ramp and you can actually walk up into town if Dollar General will fulfill your needs. Cellular service is 2 bars for Verizon, 4 for ATT, and 5 for T-Mobile 5G.
