Also seen as Hurston Bend Cut Off. We used a stern anchor. Had trouble getting anchors up from the thick clay bottom. "Almost" got stuck exiting - stay center or north of center on egress!

Hairston Bend Cutoff has silted in and the anchorage is now nothing but a pocket that will accommodate one boat about 200 feet off the channel.

Leave the channel at mm 318.5 and head towards the opening in RDB between the bank on the north side and the little island on the south side. Favor the north side as there is a 5 foot shallow just off the island. Move back in towards the NW for 9 – 10 feet of water with enough swing room for one boat. Protection from wakes is poor as the channel is within 200 feet. Wind protection is adequate from the south through west and around to the north. No shore access. Cell service is 2 bars for ATT and Verizon with no service for T-Mobile.
