Chose this spot since we ran out of daylight on a run from Grand Harbor. Sound your way in carefully. Dropped at 34°4.036'N • 88°25.187'W. No current, no wakes from tows. Winds out of SW at 7. Peaceful night sleeping - did not budge. Anchor came up clean. Left at dawn. Good T-Mobile and Verizon service. Sam from WhatYachtToDo ?

Right next to lock for an early start the next morning . Great cell coverage for AT&T. Took Dinghy ashore to walk on paved roads. Great overnight stop.

Draft: 5.0'Overall Rating:4Holding:5Wind Protection:3Current Flow:5Wake Protection:4Scenic Beauty:4Ease of Shopping:2Shore Access:2Pet Friendly:2Cell Service:4From Smithville Marina all the way down to the lock basin there is a wonderful bank with 10 to 12 feet of water and good holding in mud. Room for 10 to 12 boats with plenty of swing room. Protection is good from the northeast to the southwest. Consider this to be a fair weather anchorage for winds from the west to the north. There will be local boating wakes during the day and some wakes from vessels upbound out of Wilkins Lock at all times. The anchorage was quiet while we were there with the exception of a local church carillon playing music on a lovely Sunday evening. Shore access is available at the marina and town is about a mile up the road. Excellent cellular coverage for ATT and T-Mobile, 2 bars for Verizon.
