Head for the little island and anchor before you get to it in 10+ feet of water. The Pickwick dam was dumping 80K cubic ft per second when we anchored. This morning they were dumping 40k cfps, and the water level had dropped 3'!!! Make sure you have enough depth for a 4'+ drop in depth overnight. It was a great anchorage. Be sure to exit the anchorage from the way you entered.

Chose this spot since we ran out of daylight on a run from Richland Creek. Sound your way in carefully. Dropped near the icon in 10'. No current, no wakes from tows. Winds out of W at 7, shifted to S at 5 by morning. Some police sirens through the evening Peaceful night sleeping - did not budge. Anchor came up clean. Left at dawn. Good T-Mobile and Verizon service. Sam from WhatYachtToDo ?

There is a shallow that crosses the chute at this point and, depending on weather, could be as far as you have to go into the anchorage. Continue up the channel favoring the Wolf Island shore. At the anchorage icon depth is approximately 20 feet. There is a full current running through chute. Wind and wave protection is good except E/W which is exposed. Continue on south between Wolf Island and unnamed towhead with a minimum of 10 feet of water exiting. Restaurant across the river LDB 193.5 with landing but no dock for shore access.

Anchored near anchor mark in ~20 ft water with Pickwick tail water level ~365.5. They were lowering Pickwick lake in anticipation of TD Ida passing by on Monday, so water level was a bit high and current quite strong. Anchored in about 20'; anchor set quickly and held perfectly with 125' of rode. We're a power cat and use bridles that got quite a workout in the current. Quiet, dark, and peaceful night.
We landed our dog near the boat ramp upstream on the LDB near the River Heights restaurant (currently open for brunch on Sun, closed Mon-Wed). Alternatively you can run downstream towards the bridge and use the old ferry landing to access Savannah, TN.
Continued upstream in the morning between the small island and Wolf Island, 20' of water or more all the way out. Saw a deer swimming across the river shortly after departing. It's not far to the lock, but with the current it seemed farther...View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
