Stopped adjacent to the old coal wharf in 10+ feet of water. Took my dinghy up the shoot to the top of the island and measured at least 5 feet in center of shoot all the way to the top of the island. Easy dinghy ride to Havana town boat ramp dock for my dog.

We stopped when we had 6 inches below our keel and backed out. The LaGrange Pool Stage on 9/13/24 was 15.83. So we anchored south of Quiver Island in 11 -12 foot of water. Enough current to keep the boat aligned with very little wind. Would be OK in east or west wind. Boat and barge traffic minimal. 2-3 bars on Verizon 4G

Boat ramp very close by with a Dollar General that is open till 10:00 p.m. two blocks in. There was a barge in the channel, plenty of room to pass.

Be sure to turn to port after the last red buoy and you will see a barge loading area to the starboard side. You can anchor anywhere north of the loading area with cranes. Space for several boats and even with the low river level, we had 6' under our keel.

This anchorage had 11 Loopers and could have held 15. It's a great stop between Peoria and Beardstown. We stayed for 1 peaceful night. Our Rocna Vulcan anchor held well in the fluff mud. There is no shore access. We had 1-2 bars on our T-Mobile phone.

It looks like wind turbines are being delivered there by barge. No barges when we were there, just some equipment on the dock. The river level was low (at about 5' stage in Havana)', but we found 7' of water with just enough swing room.

Boat ramp a mile down river provides a nice spot to take the dog. Several nice parks with lots of green space and walking trails. A dollar general and a few other stores are near the boat ramp. Enter from down stream side with good water all way past the coal plant for about 200 yards. 8 boats anchored hear last night with room for 3 or 4 more.

Draft: 3.8'Overall Rating:4Holding:5Wind Protection:5Current Flow:5Wake Protection:5Scenic Beauty:2Ease of Shopping:4Shore Access:4Pet Friendly:4Cell Service:4WiFi:1As others have said, enter well downstream of the red boy off the tip of the island. We proceeded mid channel up to about where the anchor symbol is on this listing (just downstream of where the channel narrows a bit). The river was down a couple feet from normal at the time of this review, but we carried 7-8 ft all the way in. Anchor held firm and came up reasonably clean with just a bit of sand/mud.
Quick dingy ride downstream to public boat ramp on the LDB just past the nature center dock. The nature center dock appeared to be aground when we went by and quite high to be used as a dinghy dock. Boat ramp has a small floating dock, just be sure to leave the ramp side of the dock free for boat launching. Ramp is adjacent to a riverfront park with lots of room for doggies to roam.
Up the hill, to the right into town you will find a Dollar General and Ace Hardware as well as several neighborhood bars. Did not see a grocery, but didn't go look either. Continue about 3 blocks into town away from the water and you'll come to a city park. On the north side of the park is a Mexican restaurant with good food and drinks. No outside dining normally, but they did place a table outside and served us there to accommodate us with our dog. Great folks!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Draft: 5.0'Overall Rating:4Holding:5Wind Protection:4Current Flow:5Wake Protection:5Scenic Beauty:3Ease of Shopping:1Shore Access:2Pet Friendly:1Cell Service:3Go downstream beyond the tip of the island at mm 120.5 and turn out of the channel towards the LDB and go upstream in a minimum of 8 feet of water (normal pool) to above the barge dock on the LDB. Nine feet or more of water goes up at least 400 yards beyond the docks, allowing for a minimum of six to eight boats to anchor with adequate swing room. Depth is reported to extend much further up the island. Holding is good in sandy mud with little current, complete wake protection, and good wind/wave protection unless there are strong winds for the NE/SW. The anchorage is quiet. Shore access is downstream one mile at the Havana boat launch. There is adequate cellular reception on AT&T and T-Mobile and fair reception on Verizon. Shore access is one mile downriver in Havana.
