Saw no less than 6ft at center entrance - 2-4 more feet of water once you are in. Narrow, but there seems to be plenty of water as we swing L & R near the marsh.

Entrance into the creek was 5 feet. It has been reported that you should stay toward the south side of the entrance due to there some shoaling off the point on the north side of the creek entrance and that there is a submerged stump in that same area (it may have been removed because a stump that has been pulled out is on the shore. We anchored at the first bend in 8 feet of water. The only wakes were from a few fishing boats and PWCs going up and down the creek. Good holding in mud. Spent two nights.

Decent spot except bugs were horrible 7/1/22. Would stop again but have everything 100% closed.

Very windy day (12-15 mph winds) so a bit difficult to set anchor but once we got a good hook it held even in very turbulent moments. Creek is frequented by local boaters who go full speed most of the time during the day, but super quiet at night. Went for a dinghy ride and about a mile or so up the windy creek we found a GREAT local convenience store/"trading post" - Blackwater Trading Post - that had great food, beer selection and local folks!! What a pleasure! Ok

Back again after dodging thunderstorms en route from Manteo-easy day's run. Entered creek at low tide-5 1/2' depth @ S side of entrance then deepens to 9-12' within a few hundred feet. 150' on either side if you anchor in middle of channel. Room for 8-10 boats our size

Shallow entrance then 4-7'. It took us 3 times to get the Anchor to hold (Rocna Vulcan). Only able to run out 60' of chain due to narrow area. I would definitely use this anchorage again.

Beautiful quiet spot provided a stunning sunset. Saw 5’5” briefly at entrance then 10-14’. Navionics seems accurate. Minimal current, the only wind protection is marsh so no fetch, fortunately good holding and depth maintained almost to the bank so just enough room to swing our 50’ on 5:1 scope. Bugs in August weren’t bad but you will need screens. Bridge noise was negligible. Loved it.

Had a peaceful evening. No place to walk your pet. There is a low area to cross. Depth measured 4.4 feet just before and just after high tide.

Beautiful but narrow anchorage for a boat our size. 3-to-1 max scope with little swing room. Fine for settled weather (which we had). Had 6' coming in and 10' inside. Some wind protection from the north. No wakes from ICW traffic.

Proceed west into Blackwater Creek at R46. The point shown on the north side at the entrance is usually under water with just a couple of tuffs of grass showing. Favor southern bank on entering. Anchor in 7-8' anywhere in the first half mile. Caution: 5' shoal reported at entrance.
