We spent 3 nights there. Never saw less than 5' when entering the creek. There were fair sized waves outside the creek, and barely a ripple in the creek. Highly recommend this anchorage.

Watch for crab pots. We went another 500 yards closer to shore to gain protection from the forecasted 15 mph winds from the SW and anchored in 9 feet of water with good holding. Although there is sufficient depth for boats to work up into the creek we found no need to do this and spent a comfortable night with calm waters in the lee of the shore. There is room for any number of boats and, depending on wind directions, there is room up and down the shoreline with 10 feet of depth at least a mile north of the anchorage icon to protect against west and NW winds. If there are winds with an easterly component, you might think about moving 30 minutes north on the ICW and try anchoring at Buck Island South. North of the anchorage icon there is one charted snag to watch out for but we found the bottom contour to be uncluttered with debris. In the morning the anchor chain came up clean but the anchor had a large clump of mud on it that required cleaning.
There is no immediate or close by shore access in this anchorage. Crab pots are scattered around the area but are not a major issue. Note must be made that "fuzzy bills" are a problem in the entire area from April through October. We have encountered them twice in the past five years. They are midges and will cover the outside of your boat and get into the engine room through the vents. Be forewarned.
Cell service was good for the big three. There is o shore access or local shopping.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Holding was great. You can anchor almost anywhere. There can be a lot of wake during the morning and day, but calms down at night.

We saw 5 feet on our depth sounder about 1/3 of the way up. No shore access, and the marshy banks mean there is no landing for a dog walk. Scenic, dark spot with amazing star viewing.

Plenty of room to swing and for other boats (there were 6 including us). 7' entry and 10' inside. We had 15-20 Knots from NE and held OK. Saw a couple river otters.
