Very protected. Black mud with LOTS of plastic. We also pulled up a tree with our anchor. Anchorage is a marina entry way, so boats expected. Tender ride to restaurant and long tender ride to public dinghy dock. Safeway is close to public dinghy dock. Other anchorage is much closer and preferred for shore access and shopping.

This anchorage is nice. Shore access can be found at Captain James or more preferably the city park at Boston St. Pier Park with a grocery store across the street. We were told a 30'ish boat had sunk and just recently been pulled out a week before. So there may be some anchor hazards on the bottom.
