Good holding in a quiet, scenic anchorage. Some fishing boats in the area. Easy access to shore at the nearby boat ramp dock; good for walking dogs. Boat ramp has litter and no garbage pails. (Could those two things be related?) Some bugs during out 11/19 stay.

    I would stay there again.

We stayed here for 3 nights this week in fair weather, and waiting for work schedule and tides to not conflict for the trip south through skinny waters to Beaufort SC. It was a great anchorage, not a lot of wake/traffic. Other's comments here are all true.

It is a "big" anchorage, so on a stormy night it could be a bumpy night.

What a sweet place! We used navionics to find our way in and it's plenty deep. We noted on the chart that there are floating oyster pens but they are up on the shoal so there's no problem with them. We anchored near the dock, found a 15 foot spot on the shoal on the north side of the creek. The tide certainly was strong but not a problem. There is some protection from an east wind. Great dog access, we went for a long walk. Slept great after a long day.

Steamboat creek is one of my favorite anchorages. It's a good place to wait for more tide you might need for Watts Cut. The dinghy dock is very handy for getting ashore.
