Reviews Summary
The reviews for the anchorage highlight several key points:
1. Depth and Current: Many reviewers noted that the anchorage is quite deep, with depths ranging from 10 to over 30 feet, making it challenging for smaller boats. The strong currents (3-4 knots) can complicate anchoring and maneuvering, often spinning boats around in opposing winds.
2. Space and Holding: The anchorage is described as limited in space, accommodating only two or three boats comfortably. However, the mud bottom provides good holding, even in high winds, which is a positive aspect for those who do anchor there.
3. Protection and Conditions: While some reviewers experienced good protection from wakes and wind after boat traffic subsided, others mentioned being exposed to wind and wakes during the day. The current is a significant factor, often requiring careful anchoring techniques, such as using a stern anchor for better stability.
4. Accessibility and Amenities: The anchorage allows for easy access to shore, which is convenient for those with pets. Additionally, some reviewers noted decent cellular reception, which can be a plus for communication.
5. Overall Impression: The anchorage serves as a viable option for a stopover, particularly between Jacksonville and Saint Augustine, but many expressed a desire to seek alternative locations in the future due to the challenges posed by depth and current. -

There isn't much room for more than two or three boats. Depths vary from 10' to 30' pretty quick, so swing room and scope make things tricky. The mud bottom held great, even in the 30kt winds that were blowing. If you do stop, enter from the north only. This will do us in a pinch, and we will probably look for other options next time we are in the area.

Stayed the night and had no issues. Slow no wake sign is just on other side of island from anchorage so no boat wakes either. You could easily access shore and take dog ashore.

Horrible current that will spin you round and round in an opposing wind. The anchorage is deep as well so you better make sure that you set your anchor right down the middle. You won't get a good night sleep here unless you put out a stern anchor alongside your bow. Upside is that the anchorage has decent cellular reception: 20/5 or so with T-Mobile.
