Water depth goes from 19 feet to 6 feet very very quickly. Holding is decent. I pulled up grass, sand and mud.

Our anchor held very well even in winds that gusted to 25mph. We felt the wind from the S and SE but the waters were calm because of how close we could get to the island. Seems to be a popular locals spot and no wake protection from their coming and going. Absolutely beautiful island - white sandy beaches and lots of hermit crab watching while walking along the shoreline. Cell service and Wifi with AT&T was a little choppy but a few brief phone calls to check in with family were made without too much trouble.

Draft: 3.5'Overall Rating:4Holding:4Wind Protection:3Current Flow:3Wake Protection:3Scenic Beauty:4Ease of Shopping:1Shore Access:3Pet Friendly:1Cell Service:4WiFi:1We anchored in 19 feet of water and rode kayaks into shore. It was a windy day but we had no problem setting the anchor and it came up mostly clean with a small amount of mud.
The island is beautiful with soft white sand, grassy dunes and a small interior 'bay' near the anchorage. There are a few small cacti on the island so keep an eye out.
We saw dolphins, birds, and 15-20 stingrays just off the beach. Really enjoyed being here for several hours and hope to come back and spend several days on the hook.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
