We made our way into this anchorage at about 4:30PM. We found the depth as described. Holding was excellent. We were in a wind advisory with speeds of 30-40 mph. Although protection from the wind is not that great, protection from the waves was really pretty good. We didn't move until we pulled up the anchor (35 lb Mantis with 20 feet of chain). We were comfortable all night. As you make your way in, leave bread crumbs on your chart because it is easy to run aground outside the channel which narrow as you make your way to/from the anchorage from the main marked channel…been there, did that?.

On entry into the Mermentau River, the red over green marker was off station and was laying up on the shore. Lined up on the green daymarks and had no issues making way to the anchor spot. Because of the wind direction, we stayed on the west side of the island from the anchor icon. We were couple hundred yards from the red daymarker.

Was good holding in a mud bottom and the anchor came up clean in the morning.

We actually anchored on the other side (south side) of the little island from where the anchorage mark shows. We did it because there were still strong north winds from the storm the night before. Doing so almost eliminated all of the wind and in addition to our anchor we tied a rope to a tree. Got a great night's sleep!! There is a little fishing spot and park to the west of the anchorage where I was able to take our dog to use the bathroom. You'll see it as you are entering the anchorage. We have T-Mobile and had very little cell service.

Just like the other reviews beautiful anchorage. Went to the north side, depths were 8ft where we anchored. Fishing dock across the way to walk the dogs. Heard the owls at night. Plenty of swing room. We probably could have moved in more but no one was around.

Beautiful anchorage after we finally made it. We turned too soon and went aground but quickly figured out we were heading the wrong way. Go ALL the way to the rear.

Went past red 4 to the east side of the oxbow. We had light winds and no current. 12 to 14 ft all the way in. Anchored in 11ft. Best scenic anchorage. Plenty off swing room on one anchor.

Good protection available. Several barges during the evening and night but no bother from wakes. Depths are a little unpredictable. Took us a while to nose around and find a good spot. Very peaceful.
