Excellent holding, good in settled weather but not much protection from wind or waves, mostly exposed.

A popular roadstead anchorage for boats before or after Gulfstream crossings. Anchoring is possible on either side of the island depending on wind. Good holding in sand and some grass in 5-8 feet at mean low water. Many boats crossing the bank will pass by during high seasons, so be sure to show your mooring light and anchor well clear of the marked routes. May be buggy on still, warm nights.
