Stayed on a mooring for 5 nights. Fantastic location right next to Washington DC. Close to everything -- metro station, Safeway grocery, tons of restaurants and the National Mall. Dinghy dock is five minutes away located between the Y and Z docks where the full time, live-aboards are docked. It's behind a locked gate so seemed very secure. Free laundry was a bonus. Only downside was that there was a lot of construction going on with pounding machinery right on the wharf. Also, it's right under the helicopter flight path so you'll be hearing the whirr of helicopter blades quite frequently. We'd stay here again.

Easy in and out with a pleasant staff to help you get set up when you dock. We came here for three primary reasons: 1) fill up water tanks; 2) update our smartphones via wifi; and 3) have a great prime rib dinner at the restaurant. Sorry to say we weren't able to accomplish our goals. First, the water tested at 700+ parts per million. EPA says anything over 500 is not potable. We usually have only put water in out tanks up to a reading of 300; 2) could never connect to the WIFI signal (we were at the end of the dock though); and 3) restaurant was OK but was expecting more given its reputation. It just did not live up to the hype.

Approaching from Fort Worth Inlet, go south past the mooring field with plenty of anchorage area. Good holding. You’ve got views of marinas on the west side and homes on your east side. Quiet at night, slightly busy during the day. Anchored in about 18’.

Nice quiet anchorage. Very good holding. We were about 100 yards north of the manatee sign in about 6 1/2 to 7 feet of water. Watch for shallow area on chart. Excellent cell phone coverage.Tide was approaching low when we entered the anchorage.

Nice remote anchorage. Nothing available to do onshore but great stopover point. Had 2+ bars on my cell phone. We were here in very light winds. Did not see another boat all night or morning.
