We originally wanted to go to the marina but it was full and it turned out in our favor. The anchorage area provides a good buffer from the noise of the marina and adjacent park. The lake is about a half a mile in diameter, mostly deeper than you'd like to anchor but the anchorage way point area is 10' to 15' depths with good holding. The marina allows those anchoring to come in to their dinghy dock and use their showers with no fee.

Anchorage Review for Margaret Island - Rice Lake

We travel with a dog and were able to land the dog, but not very easily. Outside of the navigation channel there are heavy weeds which fouled our propellers and anchor chain. More of a nuisance than anything else, but we would only anchor here again in an emergency situation. ATT cellphone coverage was good.
