Marina Review for Beacon Bay Marina

Nice and clean marina. As previous review mentioned, dock hands extremely helpful and very nice. FREE Pumpout w night's dockage great especially since places in Honey Harbor want a ridiculous $50 for a pumpout, so that alone makes Beacon Bay a great value.
Do NOT count on WiFi even working as - per ladies we met at Beacon Bay's nice pool informed us - it rarely ever is even functional.
Too far to walk to town but local taxi service will get you to downtown Penetang for $15.
So other then useless WiFi a very nice facility.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Marina Review for TJ's Marina & Boatyard

We are Fulltime Live Aboards on a 36' American Tug Trawler mostly traveling up and down the east coast. Being nomadic, usually on the move, finding good honest and qualified people to work on our boat when we have issues can be a major challenge.
Luckily, while spending the winter at nearby Washington, NC, a few folks suggested we utilize TJ's to resolve some issues we had encountered. TJ's very quickly and efficiently resolved the specific problems we came in for and also noted a couple of other minor problems which we thankfully had them fix. All work was completed at an extremely fair price.
TJ's, while mostly a Boatyard w minimal Transient dockage, is currently in the early stages of a major expansion which would result in vastly increased Transient dockspace.
The Boatyard is extremely clean, very protected from wind and current, close to Belhaven's restaurants and shops, and also has very new well built Docks, electrical pedestals, etc. Additionally, TJ the owner, his wife Crystal who handles billing, Rob the chief mechanic, and Boo who handles bottom paint, sanding and such are all very friendly and welcoming folks.
We would not hesitate to return to TJ's for any future boat work and look forward to the expansion of their dockage.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Marina Review for Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbour

Bohemia Bay Yacht Club is a large very well maintained facility most of which is well protected from the winds and weather, however; BBYC places transients on the long semi-exposed face dock adjacent to the main office along the entrance canal leading to their more protected inner docks. This face dock which also hosts their fuel pumps and pump outs allows easy transient docking. BBYC also has an onsite boat maintenance facility w haulout covering various marine services.
All the employees we dealt w and Ken the manager were extremely friendly and helpful. BBYC has a very nice swimming pool overlooking the water and multiple clean and well maintained laundry rooms, bathrooms, and showers existing in different areas of the marina grounds - including ones adjacent to the transient dock - so all are readily acessible. The marina has no restaurant or bar but various local restaurants do deliver food to BBYC which helps since the marina is fairly isolated to those w/o a vehicle.
The major downside as far as we were concerned as transients unfamiliar w the Bohemia River is the extremely shallow Bohemia River entrance a large part of which shoals to 4' or less at low tide.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
