FYI, this river has really strong currents and we held firm.
We pulled in here after fighting wind & waves headed to Cape May. Only stayed one night and were back out. Chart depths are not accurate. I pretty much saw 20 - 25 foot depths the entire way.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The bridge does not fully clear when open. With my big beam (25') I had about 2 feet to spare between the pilings of the bridge to one side and about 4 feet between my mast and bridge (looked allot closer. Not for the faint of heart.
But holding was great and was a comfortable stop for a couple nights.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

This was an awesome stop. Watermans Crab House has killer food. I did have one of the locals warm me that when you get a strong wind from the South or South East that it was hard to get off the dock.

If you don't have too much draft you can tuck in near the park. Cell service was very strange. We had full signal strength, but no service. Once in a while you could connect.

We left before a big storm rolled through. There are so many shops & resturants. West Marine is a short walk. Very pet friendly

Great crew and very helpful. I was a little nervous getting in as the charts to give much depth. We went in at about mid tide and the lowest we saw was 6.5 fieet and that was at the dock. It is a very narrow approach.
My only downside it that they are way out of town. The nearest restaurant is still several miles away and then the next is about 11. Rarely will you find an uber but there is a towncar service that will come out there.
50 amp, water, & pumpout service at the dock.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Our first time here we found one of the sloppyier areas and ended up dragging about 50 yards, in 25kt winds) before we hooked up again. Talk to some locals and they pointed out the better areas to drop hook.
This time we had saildrive issues so backing down on a single screw was not fun. But we did get hooked up and just into for a big blow (gusts to over 30kts) and we stayed put.
Great food in Phoebus and a Food Lion about 3/4 of a mile walk from the dinghy dock.
Next to the Old Comfort Point marina in a boat launch with a dumpster in the parking lot.
And a must is walking to Fire House Coffee in Ft Monroe. Very dog friendly. (there are a couple dog groomers in Phoebus)
Post Office and VFW are an easy walk as well as the great food.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

The crew there are very helpful within what they have available to them. There is a big plan for renovation but that is a few years off.
The fuel dock has a floating section of about 20' and is a bit of a challenge as for a big boat (we're 46) and to make it a bigger challenge there is a pier at the end we had to nose up too. But fuel was cheap, crew was helpful.
If you are anchored out, there is an old boat ramp next door that we used with a dumpster in the parking lot.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
