Good, muddy holding, even in 15 knots of wind and 2 foot seas. One could probably dinghy up to Herrington Harbor South for supplies and a restaurant. Winds and waves easily access the anchorage from the east. I wouldn't use this as a storm anchorage.

We used to live here a few years ago and have recently returned with our smaller sailboat. There have been many upgrades to the facility but the people remain the same great folks they always have been. Family friendly, nice amenities, have repair facilities on-site or can find someone to help, and are near several good restaurants. Highly recommend.

Clearance is confirmed. You aren't getting under here with a sailboat or tall power boat. There is a large turning area before you get to the bridge for those that venture down the creek this far.

Anchored here during a holiday weekend and ended up at end of the line almost in the river. Holding wasn't great as we drug anchor in the middle of the night and ended up *really* close to our neighbor by morning. Being at the end of line means you don't have a lot of protection from the wind or waves.

The local water taxi was awesome and provided access to the shore from our boat quickly; the kids loved it.

Spent the weekend here with the kids. Great area to toss the kayaks in the water. Took the dingy around to the Smithsonian Natural Research Center for hiking and learning about the Chesapeake Bay.

Great protection from the weather. No WiFi but good cellular connectivity. Good place to get away from it all although the anchorage can get busy on the weekends.
