We anchored here for one night after a long day down bound from Montreal. With the current so strong in the St-Lawrence Seaway, we were worried about finding a safe place to anchor. In the vast Baie de l'Île de Grâce (Grace Island Bay), we easily anchored into a muddy bottom where we were very well protected and surrounded by aquatic vegetation. We entered by the Corbeaux Channel while being mindful of certain (well-indicated) spots that were shallower. With the beginning of the long Canada Day weekend, there were many motorized pleasure boats, but by 8:30pm, we had the extremely calm bay all to ourselves.

CAREFUL! The channel is very shallow on the western side once you pass the lock. We got stuck in four feet of water for a while. We tried using the center, the port side and the starboard side. Luckily, Mother Nature was on our side as it was raining heavily, and we were able to plow through using our bow thruster (and my husband's incredible maneuvering.) We tried to get help from the dock master, but we were told that it was not their problem. We politely asked them to dredge this part out as soon as they got the chance so that fellow boaters would not get stuck like we did.

Great anchorage just a bit off the ICW
Peaceful and calm. Off the beaten track we were anchored with 9 other boats. Plenty of room. Black mud is an instant grab with our delta anchor and 22 meters of chain in 3 meters of water
With our 6'3" keel we elected to stay a bit in the centre left as we entered.
Highly recommend this anchorage and will return every time we pass north or south

Anchorage Review for Mile Hammock Bay

Attempts to enter sloop creek proved unsuccessful. Made a run for Miles Hammock and made the bay at sunset. 11 other boats anchored. Our 6'3" draft had no issues entering and going to the middle of the bay. Perfectly peaceful and low winds made this one of our favourite spots.

Great folks and place to tie up to. We always anchor, but I'm changing crew flying in/out or Wilmington. 50' overall on Amel Maramu and 6'3" draft. Good fuel price, free water, showers and coin laundry all here. Walked a few kilometres to Publics for groceries.

Great access from the Atlantic in a well defined entrance. Dredging barges at work in the channel, large cruise and freight ship movement. Mega yachts being moved N & S in the channel. Weekend on Peanut island bring the crowds and wakes create a tough dinghy ride. Aldo note the tides are stronger in the centre of the western side of the anchoring area. No real dinghy landing. The fuel dock will charge $15 for 3 hours use. I was able to tie the dinghy at the SW corner of the Blue Herron Bridge and do Laundry and shop groceries at Publix (2-3 minute walk-on the NW of Blue Herron Blvd)
