Bit of a trek into the bay to Alpena. Watch out for the smaller than expected entrance to the marina.
Discount grocery store across the street. Great playground for kids on the far side of the parking lot.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Cute town!! Go to the Ali Bar - it is full of treasures!
The facilities were fine. They left the laundry room open for us as we got in close to closing time. There is one washer & one dryer. $1.25 per machine. Which I thought is cheap compared to other nearby stops. Bathroom & showers were clean.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

This place is huge! Nice staff, pool hot tub & a play area for the kids. Facilities looked clean though we didn't really use them.
Even though the gas dock was supposed to be closed they sent someone to fill us up.
Within easy walking distance there is a GREAT Kroger grocery store. I took a marina cart down there & stocked up. The road can be busy so stick to the sidewalk!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

GREAT GROUP OF PEOPLE!!! The members we met could not have been nicer or more helpful, sharing their extensive experience cruising not only the Great Lakes but the East Coast.
The dockmaster is also a gem. Patrick came back to meet us & get is settled in when we arrived after closing hours. Plus two members came out of the bar to help us tie up.
The restaurant was closed the night we spent there but we had beer, pizza & popcorn in the lounge. The bartender had a pizza in the oven for the kids when we walked in!
The depths getting to the cut for the club are skinny so sailboats be cautious. We draw 6 ft & did not run aground but it was tense. Also know there are lots of weeds in the area which can throw off the depth instruments.
Thanks so much Ford Yacht Club!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Beautiful place!!! Preque Isle could not be a more beautiful harbor. General store across the street for odds & ends. The facilities were fine - not the nicest I have seen. Dock master was a nice guy, helped us get settled & docked.

Anchorage Review for Harbor Beach Breakwater

Draft: 6.0'Overall Rating:4Holding:4Wind Protection:4Current Flow:4Wake Protection:5Scenic Beauty:5Ease of Shopping:1Shore Access:1Pet Friendly:1Cell Service:5WiFi:1On a windy day out of the south, we anchored just inside the breakwater. We actually dropped the hook south of this anchorage marker, south of the harbor entrance, close to the east most wall. LOTS of grass but we held well in 11 ft of water. Getting the anchor up took some time as all that grass came up with it. It was a mess.
We had planned to stay in the marina but they were having trouble with sailboats at their docks. Several had run aground this season (summer of 2022).
Ok for a quick overnight stop but a little far from shore for dog walking or provisioning.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Protected spot in a decent marina. Nice staff. Facilities were fine. We were stuck an extra day due to bad weather so we made use of the facilities. 2 washers, 2 dryers - but they have a change machine! Showers were fine. Other boaters were super friendly! Lots of dogs at this marina!
Quick walk to town. We had dinner at Sportsman's. Good food & nice waitress. Chef John's Bakery & Cafe for breakfast - it was so busy we grabbed pastries from the case in back to go.
The park along the water was fabulous! After a long day on the boat the kids ran & ran & ran. Great playground!!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Really nice members. Helpful!! We were not there while the dining room was open but they still had pizza in the bar.
For kids there is THE BEST PLAYGROUND EVER right outside the parking lot.
We would definitely stay here again!View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
