21 June 2024. Concur with comments made to date, but both the lock and the adjacent free dock at the top of the lock has significant debris (scum, sticks to large logs). On arrival and departure have a crew member manage the field of debris.

Great spot to learn about the history of the Erie Canal. Limited space but very accommodating lock masters.

Right in town, close to everything. Check in with Lockmaster, who couldn't be nicer. There is a low, fixed dock with room for a couple of boats, and one power pedestal (30A & 15A)—we tied up there with 6 feet of water. A larger boat (50+) tied up behind us on the concrete wall. No water available, clean porta-potties next to lock office. There is noise and motion while the lock is operating, but it wasn't uncomfortable and the lock doesn't operate 24/7. Terrific historical display of original flight-of-five locks from 1825. We would stay here again.

Wall (1.2m depth, shallows closer to the old locks) just alongside the outside of Lock 35 - sheltered with high walls all around. Tie to wooden posts. Right in the middle of things town-wise. You basically dock at the top of the original canal flight (a flight of 5 now unused/replace by the modern flight of 2). Power available (no water). Be sure to use spring lines to counter the currents every time the lock empties.
