Beaver Island, MI
The center of cruising in northern Lake Michigan is St. James Harbor on the north end of Beaver Island, the largest island in Lake Michigan.
On a daily basis, “America’s Emerald Isle” welcomes ferries filled with tourists who come to hike the trails or rent bikes to pedal the island and enjoy its offerings.
The countryside is wooded, grassy and dotted with farms and abandoned buildings. Newer homes line some shore areas. The western shore is especially beautiful with scenic dunes and mostly deserted white sand beaches.
