Excellent location for access to the riverwalk and historical area. Strong and wide floating docks with good power and water. Interior docks are preferred to outside wall if available. Avoid docking next to the metal plates in the parking lot if loud noises all hours bothers you. We were waked a few times but not badly.

Location… location… location… this marina is in the perfect spot to spend a week or several months. The marina sits on the Wilmington Riverfront Boardwalk, which is about 2 miles long with shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues sprinkled along the way.
The water is mostly fresh at this part of the Cape Fear River, the staff is super friendly, and it is a great place to ride out a named storm event. Most of the floating docks are new, with stable electricity and great water pressure. The interior depths get shallow at low tide, but the river channel leading to the marina is deep and wide.
I would not hesitate to come back to Port City Marina.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

5/11-12/23. Fairly newer marina. Staff was great and very helpful with lines and hookups. No fuel available when we stayed but not an issue for us. Location is great and very convenient to Harbor Walk, restaurants and downtown area. Construction nextdoor on apartment complex but was not an issue. Very close to an outdoor music venue which is a beautiful public park when not in use. Great for our dog!! No concert during our stay—could be fun! Only negative — many of the slips were occupied by numerous floating houses for a new community within the marina. Cool idea but that meant we were on the exterior wall right in the river. Got a little 'bumpy' as the tour boats and locals went passed. We would use again.

April 16, 2022, This Marina is further down on the river walk of Wilmington. Great access to visit the city of Wilmington. Under construction so not all is done. Portable trailer for washrooms still here. Talked to project engineer said dredging is not completed yet so local knowledge is needed to avoid shallow spots. A decent number of boats are here but it is not ready for showtime yet. Transit rate is $2.5' daily and monthly with six-month contract is $20'. Talked to some boaters here and said airport is on a short ride away. When completed will be nice but Showers and restroom lower the rating for now.

We came in to Port city marina thinking we'd stay three days but after we were here and realized the amenities as well as the location we decided to stay for seven days. Taylor the Dockmaster and Tanner the assistant Dockmaster have bent over backwards to make our experience great. If we were ever in this area again we would certainly stop here at the Port City Marina, Wilmington, North Carolina.

Tanner and Taylor we helpful (information wise) and the marina is well built and the docks first rate. We came in after hours and had no issues docking thanks to the very wide fairways. Only challenge was crab pots outside of marina that would have been near impossible to see after dark. Bathroom trailers leave a bit to be desired, but didn't need them much. Marina restaurant was fantastic. Price was $2.25 per foot, plus $10 for electricity (50 amp) so it's not the cheapest place to stay and they do not offer many discounts (No Boat US)

Great Marine and Service from the staff. Bathroom and shower facilities are in trailers but did not have a need to use them

We spent 2 nites at this marina. Unfortunately, it wasn't up to par. On approach, we got no response to radio or phone calls. The bathrooms/showers were a small construction trailer that was in severe need of cleaning. Though we paid for a slip, we had to tie up to the fuel dock, which was subject to all of the wakes from other passing boats. The only good thing was our proximity to downtown Wilmington. For the rates we were charged, they really need to up their game. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this marina.

New docks in sheltered marina. Still under construction. Very convenient to downtown Wilmington. The temp facilities are adequate. When complete the facilities will be 5 star.
