A state park on the waterfront in downtown Detroit! Nice grounds surround the marina area with the harbor being securely fenced in. The staff offered, or provided, no assistance when docking however the calm harbor with large fairways made dockage easy. Art, a fellow boater and long time tenant, will step up to give you a hand if he is on the dock. Quite the ambassador. All the typical amenities were present and operational. The harbor provided good protection from the river and is easily accessible.

Great location with a beautiful view looking down the Detroit River into Lake Erie. We were assigned the T Dock at the end of the pier in the river. Older but strong steel dock with posts featured 50 amp service and access to water. Upon arrival we were assisted at the dock by the dockmaster and the club general manager who welcomed us and told us of the features of the club.
Very nice facilities are kept in good order here. The food, drinks, and service were top notch and priced very reasonably and the staff and working members made us feel at home. The dock is in a marked no wake area but unfortunately many fail to honor the signs.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Regarding transient boaters only here, the emphasis of this marina is not the usual attention to customers as you won't receive any here. It is instead one of operating a "parking lot" for attendees of the thrill park. The "parking lot" though is a nice one although dock hands are seldom observed. Clean wide aluminum alloy floating docks with fixed cleats provide good traction. Jumbo spud poles provide a secure foundation. Power and water work well dockside. All of the observed 50' docks were 50 amp only so bring an adapter if you run on 30 amp service. Adapters are available for rent should you require one. Electronically secured gates at the end of the dock are opened via cards issued at registration and of course by "tailgating" others. Restrooms and showers were kept clean and serviceable.
This is a very noisy environment so not the best place to be if you prefer a quiet stay, but once again that's not the apparent mission of this marina and there are many more in this beautiful area to enjoy that would be better suited to your needs. Hopefully you're here to enjoy the thrill park and all of the excitement and consequently be able to overlook the lack of normal boating courtesies that one might expect from your neighbors as they are likely boats full of excited kids and partying dads with their high power audio systems.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

Beautiful location facing the Vermilion lagoons. Floating docks that pivot vertically on the shore's sidewalk. All utilities work as designed. The fingers are short for a 44' boat, however they worked fine and held the boat securely. Longer boats should plan on afting in to allow entry onto the stern. Wonderful town that is safe and pleasant to walk. Lots of locations to eat or drink nearby. Rental cars are a challenge though as the closest is currently Enterprise in Amherst which is over 10 miles away with very limited means to get there. Washrooms, though limited in scope, were in good shape and clean.

Clean restrooms located at the office are near a public deck area where boaters congregate. Short walk into town for a variety of restaurants and activities. Good location to hide from a storm. Now named the "James C Acheson Marina". Still operated as a municipal marina and can be booked by telephone or now on the Michigan DNR site which allows you to pick your slip and shows availability.

The floating docks are of new concrete construction with huge spud poles that provide a secure place to tie. One of the best equipped ships stores that I have seen and if they don't have it they can get it. The transient docks are strong and secure however they are tough to place fenders on and you will need it as the river channel passes closely to the transient docks. Facility feels very safe and is near several area eating establishments. Even a courtesy car is available. Watch for shallow water when leaving the St Johns river and entering the Ortega river. Drinks and dinner in the tiki bar although we left before the music started and a 5:30 breakfast in their diner before pulling out. Other stores and eateries available off site. Non floating docks are newer with plenty of pedestals for power and water. Water is well water. The dock hands excel at what they do. They will put you close to the next boat but do it well. Dockside pump outs and fuel are available. Nice ships store with fast food, necessities, and of course t-shirts. Good food at the restaurant. Seems over priced for what you get but they are the only place around and I'm glad they're here.

The transient docks are nice floating docks with strong posts and good electrical service. The water at the marina in non-potable and according to signage is not suitable for drinking. Rates are very fair for the area. You are a short dingy ride away from all of the activity on the island. If mailing packages to the marina make sure to ask them for the correct manner to address them as the marina experiences routine incidents with the local post office. Very quiet area. With all of the transients together it feels quite safe. $5 self pump outs located near the transient docks. Fuel is no longer available at the marina however there are a couple of other locations nearby to obtain fuel if needed.

Your electrical connections will be at the choosing of the slip owner so make sure that your needs are specified up front to avoid any possible inconvenience. No grills are allowed dockside so plan accordingly if you routinely cook outside. Grounds are quite secure. Nice pool available for your use. Lounge and outside seating available to relax. The docks were very nice with all of the amenities. You are docking parallel to the current so plan for that while docking. The docks are located at the base of the lighthouse. Clean facilities including laundry are located at the maritime museum. Everyone in the town is very receptive and friendly to strangers. There are a few places to eat downtown but they are not always open so check the hours when you arrive. Good protection from inclement weather. There are a couple of museums here that look at nautical and civil war history. Pompous, 30 amp power and potable water are provided as part of your dockage which is free as part of the Albemarle Loop. This is fairly remote and the majority of river traffic is from the fishermen. A couple of grocery stores are a bike ride away.

This marina has everything that you may need for comfort including on-site exercise room, pool, ships store, restaurant with lounge, fuel, ice and so on. Courtesy golf carts are available for your use which make the downtown and grocery shopping easy. Very clean restrooms and showers are near the free laundry facility. But what really sets this place off is the people. We were greeted by Diana who is a representative of the town to welcome us and to provide a bag of information. During our conversation she mentioned to just call her if we needed anything because as a former sailer herself she enjoys helping boaters. (Trip to grocery or the hardware store in her cart and other similar things) The marina staff repeatedly mentioned to us to call them should we need anything at all. The owner is on site and is improving the property daily. Great place to stop and relax for a day or two.

This dock is very stable with strong cleats and rubber edging. There is considerable current that flows parallel to the dock when at other than slack tide so plan accordingly.
A faucet on the dock provides water however there is no mention if it is potable. This is located in a beautiful natural setting complete with marsh land, and insects. The marina is located adjacent to the St Petersburg Pier which provides good areas to reconnect with grass! Beautiful park with lots of activities. Bike pathways abound in the area and you can cover a lot of ground on them here. Museums and more. While parks are wonderful they often bring another side with them. To address that issue St Pete has done a good job of having security officers in view through out the park. The marina has real locked access points and is patrolled by their own security officers who walk the docks. Great job guys. Calm waters prevail along the long transient dock. Good power. The docks are stationary concrete so they are solid but outboard pilings do make for a gap between them and your boat. Frank will make sure you get secured well for local conditions. Unfortunately the WiFi is still not working and I found my AT&T internet hot spot did not function well in that area. Verizon was a little better but still not strong.

Very active area with access to all of the beach front activities. Docks are aged and pretty short but doable for most boats. Some wave action but acceptable most of the time. Many of the commercial fishing and dinner cruise boats show little regard for docked boats as they have a schedule to keep. Fun location.

Retail boutiques accompany various places to eat or drink. An adjacent hotel allows for others to come visit with you without taking up that valuable space in your boat. No courtesy car on site although routine options are present. Mall area includes a multi screen theater. Fuel and pump outs on site. Calm water.

New owners, new energy! This isn't a resort style marina with pools or tennis courts however it has most everything that you may need as a transient. Their service is outstanding. The owner/operators are very accessible and will work to get you what you may need. Small improvements happen every day while major ones are actively in progress. Great restaurant on location and is operated by the marina owners as well. The docks are old as mentioned in earlier reviews but they are serviceable and feature good electrical and water availability. Some docks are currently being replaced.

Little problem with wakes except from the the fisherman who don't seem to slow as they pass you. Anchor held well. Be mindful of possible debris on the bottom though we didn't have a problem.

First off they answered their phone and were accommodating. Upon arrival they answered their radio (seriously), and met us at the fuel dock to get us fuel and to make our dock assignment. Everyone was very friendly and polite and told us numerous times to call if we needed anything. They presented us with printed information about their marina and local businesses of possible interest. The docks and pedestals were clean and in great condition. Their fuel was a little higher than we have paid so far but looking at their equipment and how the property is maintained we feel confident that the fuel is of good quality. Ships store has the usual convenience items and t shirts plus a fair selection of marine fluids and filters and supplies. Nice pool, clean laundry and shower facilities. Nice clubhouse. The WiFi did not work however they advised they would fix it the next day.
