The Logsdon Tug Service tie-up in Beardstown was an interesting experience. The "dock" is actual a series of old barges chained together on the riverbank. It is a very secure as far as tying up, but use a lot of fenders to keep off the barge sides. The barges are/were working barges, so there is all type of hazards on the barges (lines, angle iron braces, tie-downs and mechanical equipment) that you must walk through to spongy metal ramp to shore. There are no services, and because we arrive after hours, we paid the $1.00/foot fee at a small office on the bank by placing cash in an envelope and dropping it into a lock box. The river traffic died down after dark and the mooring was actually quite peaceful. The stop is not pet friendly, but there is a dirt field about two blocks from the office that served of furry friends. We walked about ten minutes to the "Little Mexico" restaurant, where we found friendly folks and good food. We would stop here again.

Safe place to tie up. It is a working tug/barge service yard. Can be tricky to move around on the barges and the stairs to the office are intimidating!!! Not the easiest if you have a pet, but doable. A few restaurants close by. The people at the tug service were great ! Friendly and helpful!!! Good overnight stay.

Good deal at $1 per foot. We stopped for the Mexican restaurant- well worth it. Will raft several if its busy. Lots of opportunities to trip getting off boat depending on where you're at. We'd stop again.

Super place to tie up for the night. Got a friendly welcome from Logsdon tow boat captain and toured his tow boat pilot house and engine room. Easy access to town for great Mexican restaurants. Don't miss this stop!

An alternative to anchoring while down bound on the Illinois River. Side tie to barge and/or tow boat. $1 a foot with no services, but free ice from machine. Feels kind of sketchy climbing around on rusty barges, so watch your step. Beardstown has some really good Mexican food.

If you don't like to anchor this is a place to stop. The guys that work here are very nice and helpful. The stairs are metal and steep to get off the barges and go to the office or into the town. There are restrooms and a makeshift shower available.

10 Oct 23 Sam of GreatLoopAcademy.com on the barge here on a training trip with a 430 Mainship with a 3' 8" draft. Logsdon has really cleaned up the barges, along with putting some picnic tables out there. Still a great deal at a dollar a foot. They told me they allow rafting three deep. We only saw two deep rafting. No power or water, but there is a bathroom and a crude shower. We walked into town and had great margaritas and Mexican food at Little Mexico. Good T-Mobile and Verizon service. Sam from WhatYachtToDo ?

They are indeed a small assist-tug towing service. They let us loopers tie up with them. Fee is $1/ft paid in cash in a steel drop box in the crew break room. The tugs are on channel 10, they will answer. The phone if no one picks up just has a dial by name directory. The crews are happy to help if at the dock and standing by. Tug crews work 12 hour shifts, they do not live on the boats. See previous comments by others below.

Not a marina per se, they had four barges when we were there, five of us managed to tie on. Had to walk down the four barges across two barges and then up a long set of stairs, down a set of stairs and there's a door you enter and there's envelopes on the table in which you put your $1/ft and leave in the box.
Town is described as 'having potential', very true. Not much to do there, a few mexican restaurants we didn't try. $$$ for what it is and what you get.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

No frills here folks. Talking to the 'marina' is like talking to a tow captain…rough. Boats get reservations and some just show up. Spending the night is a lesson in teamwork and patience. If you have mobility issues this is not your stop - you have to step over boats, equipment and eventually some steep stairs. There is a great Mexican restaurant that's worth the walk - Little Mexico.

As others have described, it can be a climb to reach shore and a challenge for dogs but nice people. They had water and 100 watt power cord available. A welcome place to tie up. Five minutes down the street to the River Port Restaurant and Lounge who turned out a very acceptable cheeseburger and fried chicken.

This is not a fancy stop by any means but the team here is so amazing. They took excellent care of us and we really enjoyed our night tied to the tugs! Felt safe and welcome. No power so plan on using your generator. Stairs up and short walk to nice park to walk our dog. Not much in town. Thank you Logsdon Tug for a memorable stay! Y'all were awesome!

A convenient stop. Tied up to two old barges. Walk across a skinny metal gang plank to hike up 25 metal stairs to clear the wall. The tugs crews and Captains are super friendly and offered advice on things to do down the River. One of the Captains let us know when it was a good time to head for LaGrange Lock. No elec and no water but has showers, drink and ice machines. Small town with a few restaurants and a grocery store. A couple of small parks to walk a dog but very hard to get the dog up the steps.

An available place to stop when wanting to go from Peoria to Grafton in 2 days. Phone Logstons that day and confirm they should have first come space and ask for clear directions about where to tie up. The 2 barges are in rough shape so have several fenders at your rubrail and approach the barge into the 3mph current. The barge we were on had no connection to the shore so they sent a boat to pick up cash only payment. It was $1/ft. Nice folks.
