Good holding in mud, but we had light winds that day so not put to test. Depending on wind direction, there is a spot for protection around this anchorage. A pet friendly park is at the dinghy dock and shopping is a short walk away. Our ATT service worked out here.

7-19-24 We anchored about 500 feet north the the marker in 10 feet of water. Room for several boats in this area. Great protection and access to town at the free dinghy dock. Great historic tourist town with plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, and an awesome maritime museum.

We turned to starboard and entered the inlet to anchor. Anchoring in this location give protection from winds out of the south (which are the main criticism of anchoring in the waterway that is the back door to St. Michaels). There are some wakes from local out boating. A great anchorage.

Great anchorage. We dropped the hook deeper into the creek in 5 ft at low tide. Dock is close by. Just phenomenal.

Adding to my description of the anchorage: This southern point is especially subject to S winds with a long fetch and N winds with a much shorter fetch. If the winds themselves are not an influence, the water they blow into or out of the creek may be. There is no 'min wake' or speed restriction at this location, so some recreational powerboats passed by at full speed. Several waterman passed by, some early, but all were courteous. Verizon cell service was variable from good to poor. The dinghy dock needs maintenance and more tie-up points but served us well as the only user. The walk to town was easy, the locals friendly and helpful. A small grocery was close to the dinghy dock on the main drag, but we didn't explore it. The walk to the main harbor, marine museum, many restaurants and shops, etc. is within a mile.

Fantastic location with plenty of room. An easy row to the public dock and an easy stroll into the heart of St. Michael's. Definitely enjoyed this locale over anchorages on Miles. If you use the dinghy dock, say hi to Johnny in his well-weathered Westerly!

Spent four days at this anchorage, caught first time, mud that came off reasonably easy when leaving, some oyster shells. There were nine boats anchored while there and still room for more. Better option than St. Michael harbor. Easy dingy to plastic dingy dock in St. Michael where there appears to be a kayak club. Great little town with lots of stores/restaurants. Ava Pizzeria is 5 star, especially the tomato bisque. Lemoncello is also good. Rum distillery, winery, brewery, car museum. Make sure you plan a half day for the Chesapeake Marine Museum, best one yet.

Second Paua Hana's review! Absolutely lovely! We have a Mainship 390 draft around 4 ft. We were concerned about going all the way back there but no issues. Deeper than the charts say. Around 5 ft at low tide. Worth going in! Dinghy to the dock and easy for pup. Nice park! Spent our second day in St Michael's. So peaceful!!!

Good anchorage and protected. Dinghy to the dock about 1/2 mile up the creek, then short walk to town. 3 Oyster boats work the area but they gave us no issues. This was a better option than going all the way around to the other side of St. Michaels which would have been a much longer trip.

Beautiful anchorage with lots of space, situated in a quiet residential area. Besides a few work boats and the occasional local power boat, there is very little traffic here and few wakes. Good holding in mud and good wind protection from all around, though you may want to pick which creek or shoreline to anchor in based on wind conditions. Good ATT and Verizon coverage. The "dinghy dock" is the seawall of a local park with a kayak launch. The workboat dock is slated to be rebuilt soon, so conditions may change. Possibly the most pet-friendly town we have ever visited. Nearly all restaurants offer outdoor seating and some even have pet menus! In addition to the previously mentioned local brewery and distillery, don't miss Ava's Pizza or the small-batch, in-house roasted Blue Heron Coffee shop just up the street from the dock. For provisioning, the Village Shoppe is a small grocery with liquor, wine, beer, cheese, and some meats and produce.

Easy access to town via town dock. The shore end of the dock dries out at low tide.

Easy access to town dock (look for the workboats) at St. Michaels. Friendly locals on a workboat greeted us as we rowed in. From there, 3 block walk will get you to the Old Mill area with a cafe, winery, distillery and brewery, plus all that Talbot St. has to offer.

Very nice alternative to access St. Michaels compared to the hustle of the main harbor. Only reason for four stars is the 4:45 wake up call by a small group of workboats leaving. They pass close at 10 knots throwing a huge wake. Rafting is not recommended. Weekend traffic is pretty busy as well.
