Good shore access in marina channel - don't use docks on ICW. Winds were from SE and E - good protection. Some wakes during the day but calm at night. Holding was mud, cleaned up easily. Fun watching the pelicans fish in the morning. Dog walking was not great due to the number of cars and lack of grassy areas. We walked on the road under the bridge - watching for cars the whole time. Small dogs do fine with the area.
Would stay again.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer

A lot of shallow waters so be careful you don't hit bottom. Although I didn't give this a 5 start I would recommend Gilbert Resort. Well anchoring out and going to the restaurant for food & drinks. Live entertainment was fantastic also.

Don’t cut this short or you will run aground. You can actually anchor almost anywhere in this basin. We’ve actually anchored all the way north with North winds. Near Gilbert’s is protected from North to east. There are some boats and jet skis that will come around but much less than across near Downtown Key Largo where it’s nonstop. Dinghy to Gilbert’s for a meal and play by their beach. Or go across the channel to Blackwater Siren, another little dive restaurant. Check out their coconut onion rings! Kayaking is good all around the basin and up the mangrove channels where you will see manatee in winter months. WiFi is available at Gilbert’s Tiki Bar. Cell service is good Verizon, TMobile, Google Fi. Gilbert’s sells diesel and gasoline. Stores are far from this location.
