Reviews Summary
The reviews provide mixed experiences about anchoring in a specific location.
1. Positive Aspects: Some reviewers appreciated the quietness and good holding conditions, particularly mentioning the clay and mud bottoms that provided reliable anchoring. The area is described as fairly protected from slight winds and has good depths for anchoring.
2. Negative Aspects: Several reviewers noted a lack of protection from storms and winds, with one experience involving thunderstorms that made anchoring difficult and uncomfortable. The area is also described as wide open, which can lead to challenges during inclement weather. Additionally, there are mentions of wake action from passing barges.
3. General Observations: The location is noted for its proximity to Dauphin Island and the ICW, but it lacks amenities like shopping. Overall, it seems to be a decent spot for overnight stays, especially in calm weather, but caution is advised during storms. -

Could not get the anchor set, had to throw out second anchor. Thunderstorms came up during the night and blew us almost on shore. Not very much fun. Wide open water when a storm is coming, no protection

Good holding on clay bottom. You do get some wake action from passing barges but it served the purpose. Anchorage is in sight of the Dauphin Island bridge with houses lining the shore.

Behind Dauphin Island. Good holding in the mud, even thru a series of small storms. Reliable depths. Not much wind protection. No shopping, just homes along the shoreline. Okay place to overnight.
