Anchorage Review for Cape May Harbor East

Vessel Type: Sail
LOA: 49'
Draft: 4.7'Overall Rating:4Holding:5Wind Protection:4Current Flow:2Wake Protection:1Scenic Beauty:3Cell Service:5This is a good spot for an overnight during a coastal transit. It offers good holding and good protection from seas and wind with plenty of room, but there are lots of boats transiting the channel and making wakes at all hours of the day and night. Strong currents make dinghying ashore problematic.

The anchor held on the first bight and came up clean when weighing.

Marina Review for Crocker's Boatyard Inc.

Friendly people, easy access, and a short walk to downtown. The Shaw Cove Railroad Bridge opens on request on VHF 13; they opened the bridge for us going in and going out, but they didn't reply to our radio calls. Just ask them to open the bridge and wait a few minutes until you see it start to open. The only down side of this lovely marina is the Amtrack trains, which start operating and blowing their whistles before 0400.

Anchorage Review for West Crib Island

We anchored right in the center between High, Crib, Money, and Pot Islands The approach from the south along the west side of Outer Island has plenty of room and is easy to navigate. Good holding for the anchor on the first try. The only down side is that it's a little less protected from the swells than appearances might suggest.

Anchorage Review for Eatons Neck Basin

LOA: 49'
Draft: 4.7'Overall Rating:5Holding:5Wind Protection:4Current Flow:5Wake Protection:5Scenic Beauty:4Cell Service:2Fantastic spot for a good night's sleep. Easy access. The channel is well marked by red & green buoys all the way to the USCG station. Plenty of room for probably 20+ boats. When we arrived, we thought it was a bit crowded, but most boats departed at sunset leaving us almost to ourselves. We were able to get cell service and stream video, but it was on the edge.

Once inside the harbor, there are plenty of channel buoys with good shelter.
