The docks are good. The setting is pleasant. It is convenient to the Black Rock Canal. Unfortunately, the marina staff are not well trained and don't seem to understand anything about the operation of a marina. I called the phone repeatedly and got a busy signal. I tried hailing on channel 16 and got no response.

When I stopped at the fuel dock, the staff suddenly appeared. I informed them that I was looking for a transient slip for one night. They were going to put me on the bulkhead. I stated that on a previous stay I had seen boats being pummeled on the bulkhead by the swells in the basin. They told me that the swells would stop at night. I knew this not to be true and insisted on a slip. The basin was at least half empty. They had to call a manager to find an available slip. Was finally assigned a slip. The rolling did not stop all night, although it was acceptable for sleeping.

Should I end up in Buffalo again, I will definitely avoid this marina.

Enjoyed the free dock ($15 for electricity). Makes visiting easy. We were waiting out weather and the town allowed a second day, as there is a 24 hour limit. We usually anchor our here but the dock was open when we arrived.

Picked up a mooring for two nights in September 2021. Others in our group anchored out near us with good holding. Very easy place to walk a dog. Friends joined us conveniently from dinghy docks at the end of most streets.

We were here for three nights in September 2021. This is an easy town to walk with many beautiful homes. We needed to do some minor provisioning and the grocery store is about 2+ miles from town. We were there the weekend of the log canoes races. It was great to see these historical vessels up close and in action. Also enjoyed a trip to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

We were here 9/19/2021. The trip up the Wye River is very scenic with many large estates. Pickering Cove is very isolated, although there were two other boats in site. I was able to gain shore access using the Audubon Club canoe / kayak launch. The road leading into the access was a great place to walk the dog. While having coffee in the morning we watch crabbers checking nets / traps.
