It is well protected in all but easterlies and easterly swells. Holding is good in mud and sand, with better ground being to the north east in the cove just off of the breakwater. But this comes with less wind protection from the lee of Richmond Island. Other than hauling up to the gravel beach in the dinghy, there are no public facilities, or access to transportation unless you are willing to walk at least 2 miles or convince a ride share to traverse a series of narrow winding roads, of which the last 3/4ths of a mile is dirt.

The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge was rebuilt and reopened in 2018 with significantly different operating heights for the draw. It now has a "closed" clearance of 56 feet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Mildred_Long_Bridge
