The local "Looper Advocates" from the city had the locked pedestals unlocked as reported in previous posts. The restroom / shower facilities work is to begin on July 16, 2024. The Peppermint museum is close and worth a stop. Can be difficult to get off the boat given the high wall. Some decent restaurants in the area. More than anything, the local welcome wagon Looper advocates do indeed try to make it a positive experience.

Free wall with power and water. Walls are high. 4 pedistals; 2 are locked. No answer when calling the phone # given. Within the last month they've started work on the fire station where the bathroom and showers are located, so they're unavailable. So until that's done, just power and water. And you're very close to the Geneva St bridge where we're seeing some drug activity. Other than that, it's a good free stop.

We docked on the high concrete wall just before the stairs leading up to the fire station and Power House restaurant/bar. We had to use the wall ladder to exit our boat, but we're glad to have a way up! Shore power, water, and bathrooms/showers in the firehouse. It was a little noisy at night as the bar was having karaoke night. !

Stayed 2 nights at Lyons Dock, 5 Looper boats and a sail boat, the first night . . . Plenty of depth, 30 & 50 amp power, only one power panel on wall closet to the Lock (30 & 50 amp), convenient to town, restaurants. . . On the high wall closest to the Lock, used ballard, a ring and a stake (one I have onboard, if you don't have one nice to have) to tie up to . . . Bob Storey (on the welcome committee) came to welcome us and provide information not only on Lyons, but other stops West bound and share the history of the canal, very interesting info and helpful . . . Home of Peppermint . . . Adjacent Fire Department has sign-in book and showers . . . Video surveillance . . . Nicely landscaped!

Tied up to the small float dock east of the bridge, to make it easier to get on and off the boat, but the wall would have been better. We were there on a rainy Sunday and a group of young adults were fishing from under the bridge and playing the music a bit loud. They were harmless just having a good time, but it still spoiled our experience a bit. The other problem we had was that nothing was open, except one bar with live music, which was good music, but we were hoping for a more quiet meal.

Lyon's is a must stop while traveling on the western end of the Erie. Every time we get a chance we make a point to stop in Lyons. The greeters who meet you at the wall will make sure you will enjoy your visit
