I'd give it 5 stars if the state of Florida would only repair the past hurricane damage and open the park as in the past. Way too much time has passed for repairs to be completed.

New bridge under construction. Current channel for crossing is now on the west side. Be alert for activity and temporary obstructions.

See the nav alert that is posted. New bridge is complete, old bridge being removed.

Stayed here again and continues to be a great peaceful anchorage. In addition to the good reviews previous, it's a great sanctuary from adverse weather. 13 feet of depth with mud bottom.

This place serves a much needed place to anchor and await securing a morning ball in Boot Key Harbor ran by Marathon. It's still dinghy close to the office, showers and dinghy dock. Sombrero Beach is close by as well.

Stil a nice destination and experience but the waiting time for a ball is excessive…too many moorings out of commission. Many times there is a 2 week wait.

It's got what you need. Decent protection from wind and wakes. Pay attention to tide tables to make your anchorage selection. Touring the area is more comfortable from a dinghy.

Scenic beauty…hmmm. Lots of development doesn't help with that for me.
Busy place with non stop kayaks, canoes and manatee tour boats. Many operators aren't watching who or what is directly ahead of them.
There is a nice park just north of Pete's marina with a great dinghy dock. Town can be accessed from there.
    Lots of places to anchor.

We visited this Spring again this year. Everything mentioned before still applies. Several houseboats were there this year. Amazing clear water, like looking through air even in 6 feet of water or more.
Not many boats during the week. Big change on weekends.
